(Minghui.org) An 85-year-old woman from Jieyang City, Guangdong Province was arrested in May 2023 for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. Ms. Luo Meiyun is currently held at the Jiedong District Detention Center.

Ms. Luo credits Falun Gong with returning her to health, but she has been repeatedly targeted for upholding her faith during the past 24 years of the persecution.

She was arrested in early 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. The arresting officers were from the Longwei Town Police Station. They then raided her home together with Huang Yuwang of the Donghu Village Committee. Her Falun Gong books and informational materials were confiscated.

Huang later harassed Ms. Luo four times at home before her latest arrest. The third time, on April 16, 2022, he led four other officers to her home and ordered her and her loved ones to sign a statement saying that she’d renounce Falun Gong. He then took her to the Longwei Town Police Station and held her there for two days.

Huang and agents from the Longwei Town Police Station harassed Ms. Luo a fourth time on June 14, 2022.

Several officers from the Jiedong District Domestic Security Office and the Longwei Town Police Station arrested Ms. Luo in May 2023, and she has since been detained at the Jiedong District Detention Center..
