My Life While Staying with My Daughter’s Family of Three

(Minghui.org) I started to practice Falun Dafa in July 1998 and recovered from all of my illnesses. I went through a fundamental change, and I was a completely different person. Thank you, Master Li (Dafa’s founder) for your salvation and for opening up my wisdom. I understand the principles of being a good person. I used to be selfish, seeking personal interest and fame. After practicing Falun Dafa, I became a selfless, helpful, healthy, and happy person.

My daughter’s family of three lives in the capital city of our province. My daughter reads Dafa books and holds herself to Dafa's principles. She is kind, sincere, and generous. She has benefited a lot from Falun Dafa. She didn’t attend a university after graduating from high school. She set up her own business. Though it was hard for other companies in her industry to find projects, she keeps receiving contracts. She complies with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance while dealing with her clients and manages her business according to her conscience.

She has a successful business and good health. Because of the family planning policy of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), my wife was forcefully induced to deal with an unintended pregnancy when she was seven months pregnant. After six days of torment, my daughter was born prematurely. She was in poor health as a child. After she learned Falun Dafa at seven years old, she became healthy. She has not taken any medication since then and now she is 32 years old. My daughter only stayed in the hospital for half a day when she gave birth to her own daughter. She didn’t have any injections or take any medicine in the hospital. The doctors were surprised and asked her to sign an agreement assuming responsibility so that the hospital wouldn’t be responsible if anything happened. She was extremely healthy. She was blessed by Falun Dafa.

My wife died many years ago. I live by myself. My daughter and her husband were very busy and unable to take care of their five-year-old daughter in June 2020. They asked me to go over to look after my granddaughter. While I lived with them, many unexpected things happened.

Parents-In-Law's Worries

I was illegally incarcerated in a forced labor camp after I went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. My son-in-law and his parents opposed me practicing Falun Dafa. I tried to clarify the truth to them several times and gave them informational materials and the Nine Commentaries on Communist Party to read. They only superficially accepted them. In their hearts, they didn’t acknowledge Falun Dafa.

Shen Yun was on a tour in Taiwan in October 2018. My daughter had not been diligent in her cultivation. I wanted her to watch Shen Yun in Taiwan. I bought an airline ticket to Taiwan for her and told her over the phone. I told her parents-in-law as well and told them that Shen Yun was traditional Chinese culture and was a beautiful show. They had heard negative things somewhere and became very afraid. They acted like something bad was going to happen. The day before my daughter’s trip to Taiwan, they called me and complained over the phone for 40 minutes about how they had sacrificed for the family and how much they had put up with everything, and they didn’t let me say a single word. They were afraid that they would be implicated if my daughter went to Taiwan to watch Shen Yun.

It was too risky for their families if I looked after my granddaughter while my daughter went to Taiwan. They were afraid that they would be implicated. My daughter was unable to go to Taiwan because of their objections.

Creating a Family Cultivation Environment

I pondered their questions and thought of ways to do better so I could change the environment to create good conditions for validating the Fa. I acted in accordance with Falun Dafa's principles. I talked little but did a lot to show my son-in-law how a Falun Dafa practitioner is. I bought groceries and other daily necessities and also paid the property management fees from my own pocket for them. I educated their child rationally.

Falun Dafa opened my wisdom about how to educate a child. I was reading Master's teaching one day in 2019. As I read on, I suddenly understood how to educate children who are over three years old. I had different methods and mentalities to educate and guide children of different ages. I was confident about how to educate my granddaughter. I knew that Master had opened my wisdom. Thank you Master!

I was living with them and acting according to Dafa's principles, and my son-in-law changed. He no longer opposed me. More remarkably, my daughter's attitude toward her parents-in-law improved. My daughter is a businesswoman, while her husband is simple, introverted, calm, and steady. They always fought due to their different opinions. But my daughter took care of her parents-in-law and supported them financially. She took them on a trip to Yunnan. Her father-in-law had never been in an airplane. He was so excited and told me that his daughter-in-law had put him on an airline trip and he was so happy. My son-in-law was also very happy when he saw his father so happy. They had a very good time during the trip. My daughter was no longer that harsh and put up with them a bit.

Granddaughter Learns to Write “Falun Dafa Is Good”

I know how wonderful Falun Dafa is. I wanted my granddaughter to learn Falun Dafa as well. She was not quite five years old. I discussed it with my daughter and decided that the little girl should start by writing “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” She should write this nine times every day. She couldn’t write Chinese characters yet. I taught her stroke by stroke. My son-in-law asked her what she was writing two days later. When he saw it was “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” he was not that happy but didn’t stop her.

She wrote for several days. Then she had a body cleansing. She had a fever and coughed heavily with a runny nose. Her father worried a lot and bought medicine for her. She didn’t get any better after more than 10 days. Her father gave her medicine but she vomited. Her mother then stayed home to look after her. Her temperature rose to 39 degrees Celsius (102 Fahrenheit), and she coughed and vomited again and again. Her mother put damp towels on her to lower her temperature. Her father made video calls and was anxious when he saw her.

I was about to go buy some medicine for her but didn’t know what medicine I should buy. I walked out the door and then realized that I clarify the truth to people to save them every day. My granddaughter should also be saved by Falun Dafa. I should let her listen to Master’s lectures. I discussed it with my daughter and then played Master’s audio recordings with her. I was in the living room and asked my daughter to accompany her.

An amazing thing happened three hours later. Both of them came out of the bedroom. My daughter said to me: “She listened to Master’s lecture for half an hour. Her fever disappeared, then she went to sleep. She listened to two lectures (about three hours), then sweated a lot. Then she recovered.” I was very touched and experienced Master’s compassion once again and that Falun Dafa is extraordinary. I had the thought that I must clarify the truth to my son-in-law after he comes home.

My granddaughter then continued writing “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” Her father came home and was surprised to see his daughter, who had been seriously ill, now sitting there writing. I asked my daughter to tell him about the whole process. I said to him: “You were worrying about her and bought medicine for her and gave it her. Why didn’t she get better? She got worse actually. But she recovered after she listened to Master's teaching. She recovered so quickly. Can you explain it?” He smiled. He was introverted. But at that moment he must have known the reason.

I started to let my granddaughter memorize Master's poems after she had written “Falun Dafa is good” for over half a year. She memorized one poem every day. Her father didn’t object when she was in first grade. She hadn’t dared mention Falun Dafa a year earlier, but now she could recite Master's poems in front of him.

My Granddaughter's Achievements from Studying the Fa

My daughter was regretful for not going to Taiwan to watch Shen Yun. So she had her daughter learn to dance from the age of four. My granddaughter passed level four in dancing in three years. We often let her watch Shen Yun videos, which encouraged her to work hard and bear hardship.

She won a gold prize in two children's dancing competitions held by the local TV station. Despite her achievements, she was humble and behaved as though nothing had happened. She could read Zhuan Falun, though she was only nearly seven years old. The only parts she couldn't read were the complicated characters. After she read it once, she could read it fluently the second time. She reads Zhuan Falun with me after lunch during lunch break every day. We read one paragraph each. She reads at the same speed as me. She points out anything I read incorrectly.

Her heart nature has improved a lot through Fa study. One day she picked up some money on the ground. I told her why she shouldn’t pick it up. She put it back. One day she saw money on the ground again and said to me: “Look, grandpa.” I saw the money and smiled. She smiled too. We just ignored it. Later on, I asked her why she didn’t pick it up. She said: “It was not mine. I didn’t want it.”

She was not a picky eater and didn’t waste food. She didn’t watch cartoons on TV. She only watched three Chinese classic movies and her dancing videos on her mobile phone and didn’t watch anything else. She shared her insights on the Fa with me. I was surprised by her insights sometimes. She is remarkable. We are so grateful that we have such a good child in this chaotic society. Thank you Master!

She came across the issue of joining the Communist Young Pioneers during the second term of first grade. Her mom told her why she shouldn’t join and then asked her if she still wanted to join. She said no. I asked for her dad’s opinion. He didn’t think she should join either. My daughter told the teacher that her daughter would not join the Young Pioneers. I was very pleased to hear that.

My Son-in-law: “I Will Comply with the Principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”

I chatted with my son-in-law after dinner one day during the Chinese New Year in 2022. I said to him: “You entrusted your child to God. How wonderful it is!” He said: “I think most of the things you do are right. I now do things according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” He really does comply with the principles.

He used to often catch colds and didn’t have good stomach or bowel functions. He would buy medicine and take it as soon as he didn’t feel well. He has become healthy and has rarely caught a cold since last year. He is sincere and kind to his colleagues and doesn’t fight for personal interest at his workplace. His colleagues like him. He discusses things with my daughter when he is unhappy or does anything wrong. We guide him with Falun Dafa's principles. Though he made the withdrawal from the CCP organizations several years ago, I feel like he was truly saved recently.

My granddaughter said that she had a dream one day in April 2022. Out of curiosity, my daughter asked her what dream she had. She said: “I saw that I flew into the sky on a piece of cloud in my dream. Many people around me ascended to the sky by a cloud ladder, step by step to heaven. When we broke through the fog, a grand gate appeared with four big poles in the front. There were golden cranes on the poles. They were different shapes and sizes. One crane flew down and perched on the back of my hand, but flew up a second later. I saw a golden pavilion with golden birds of different kinds on it. On the front of the golden pavilion, the words “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” were engraved in traditional Chinese. I went to the gate, which opened automatically. Many Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats appeared. Right in the middle and on the very top was Master. Master looked at me. I understood that Master asked me to cultivate well in the human world.”

She told us more but I can’t remember it all because it was a while ago. She was not willing to tell us initially. Her mother and I asked her bit by bit and she replied peacefully and logically. She often sees Master in her dreams. She often buys fruit with her own money and presents them to Master.

I have practiced Falun Dafa for many years. Master has given us so much. I am so grateful to Master for saving us. I must cultivate well and follow Master to return to my original home.
