Additional Persecution News from China – December 22, 2022 (5 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Mr. Zhou Sanyong Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

Mr. Zhou Sanyong from Sanhe City was arrested by officers including Liu Xiangzhou, head of Taihe County Domestic Security Division, on January 22, 2021. He was sentenced to nine years in prison, fined 100,000 yuan by the Taihe County Court at the end of August 2022. He appealed to the Fuyang City Intermediate Court.

2. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Xueying Sentenced to One and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Zhang Xueying from Hongshan Town of Zichuan District was recorded by surveillance cameras when she talked to people about Falun Gong in 2021. She was arrested. Her family paid 2000 yuan to bail her out. Ms. Zhang was harassed by officers from the Hongshan Town Police Station and local community staff members since then. She had to leave home to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Zhang was arrested in October 2022 when she had a nucleic acid test. She was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.

3. [Fuyu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Huanli Arrested and Detained 

Mr. Wang Huanli, 63, was arrested at home by officers from the Wanfa Town Police Station and the Fuyu City Police Department in July 2022. He was detained in the Fuyu City Detention Center. His family is not allowed to visit him.

Mr. Wang was arrested in July 2021 and was detained in the Fuyu City Detention Center for several days. He was released only after his life was in danger due to a hunger strike.

4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jin Dejing Harassed

Ms. Jin Dejing was often harassed by officer Hu Yang from the Nu’erhe Police Station. Hu Yang recently pressured Ms. Jin to sign a guarantee statement and threatened to arrest her.

5. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Four officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station went to harass practitioners in Weima Village at 5 a.m. on June 25, 2022. They jumped over the wall and entered the home of Mr. Ma Minxiu and his wife Ms. Song Caixia. They confiscated their Falun Gong books and took Ms. Song to the police station for interrogation. Ms. Song was released that afternoon. 

That day, these officers also harassed practitioners in other villages. They confiscated all the Falun Gong books from Liu Shurui’s home in Majiamiao Village. They confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and two Falun Gong books from Liu Shaorong’s home in Xiaonanmeng Village. They confiscated a media player from Li Zihua’s home in Houjiatun Village.
