(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shanghai] Mr. Luo Wei Sentenced to One and a Half Years in Prison

After being detained for one year and five months, Mr. Luo Wei was sentenced to one year and six months by the Putuofa District Court on the afternoon of August 4, 2022.

2. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

Ms. Wang Yuan will be tried in Lishan Court on August 8, 2022. Ms. Liu Suzhi and Ms. Zhang Yunkun will be tried in Lishan Court at 9 a.m. on August 10, 2022.

3. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Wu Haibo Faces Trial

Mr. Wu Haibo was arrested on March 5, 2022. He will be tried in the Chikan District Court at 9:30 a.m. on August 12, 2022.

4. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Li Jian Sentenced to Three Years and Six Months in Prison

Li Jian, a retired teacher from Zhongshan University, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Li Jian is currently detained in the Haizhu District Detention Center.

5. [Beijing] The Case Against Ms. Zhang Fang Submitted to Court

Ms. Zhang Fang from Chaoyang District was arrested at home by officers from the Sihui Police Station on March 9, 2022. Her case has been submitted to the court. She was transferred from the No.1 Detention Center to the Chaoyang District Detention Center.

6. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Xiuzhi Arrested and Detained

Several officers went to Ms. Wang Xiuzhi’s home on July 11, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, wall posters, wall calendars and a media player. Ms. Wang was arrested and detained for 10 days.

7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Tian Qingru Arrested

Ms. Tian Qingru from Dingxing District, 60, was arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials in the Tiangong Temple Market on July 30, 2022. She was released later that day.

8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Hu Huiru and His Wife Ms. Wu Qinyu Arrested

Mr. Hu Huiru and his wife Ms. Wu Qinyu were arrested at home by officers from the Canglong Island Police Station in Jiangxia District on the morning of July 14, 2022. Their home was ransacked. The police confiscated numerous Falun Gong books, a computer, USB drives, mobile disk, etc. The elderly couple was detained until 2 a.m.

9. [Bin County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Guo Lan Arrested

Several officers including Li Haifeng, head of the Sanbao Police Station, went to Ms. Guo Lan’s home on August 4, 2022. Ms. Guo was pressured to sign a guarantee statement. She refused. The police ransacked her home and confiscated more than 30 Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Ms. Guo was placed under 5-day detention and is detained in the Harbin Detention House.

10. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhen Shijie Arrested

Mr. Zhen Shijie from the Wangyingzi Sub-district was arrested by officers from the Hebei Police Station in Haizhou District at noon on July 31, 2022. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated his Falun Gong books, computer and printer. Mr. Zhen is detained in the Fumeng County Detention Center.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Guo Ruihong and Her Husband Mr. Mao Xiangling Arrested

Ms. Guo Ruihong was followed to her home in Hanyang after she distributed truth-clarifying materials and was arrested on the evening of July 14, 2022. Her husband Mr. Mao Xiangling was arrested as well after he returned home from work. The couple’s rental apartment in Huangpi was ransacked. Multiple printers and computers were confiscated. It is unknown where the couple is detained.

12. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yu Henghai Arrested

Mr. Yu Henghai has been displaced for a long time. He was arrested at the end of June 2022 when he did a nucleic acid test and he is currently detained in the No.1 Detention Center.

13. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Wang Xiangchen Arrested

Mr. Wang Xiangchen was recently arrested.

14. [Liuyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Hu Suhua Arrested and Missing

Twelve officers from the Yanxi Police Station went to Ms. Hu Suhua’s home on the afternoon of June 27, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, cell phone, and other items. Ms. Hu was taken to the Liuyang City Police Department and then was taken back to the Yanxi Police Station that evening. When Ms. Hu’s family went to the police station the next morning, they were told that Ms. Hu was released around 7 a.m. But her family have not seen her since the police took her away. The police ransacked Ms. Hu’s home two days later. They are looking for Ms. Hu. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Anyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Chaojie Arrested and Detained

Mr. Wang Chaojie from Tangyin County was arrested by officers in Wenfeng District on June 16, 2022. He has been detained since then and is not allowed to be visited by his family.

16. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Xu Shoufu Detained

Nineteen practitioners were arrested on July 13, 2022. Three of them including Mr. Xu Shoufu, Mr. Zhang Guisheng and Mr. Qu Kun, are still detained. Mr. Xu is placed under official arrest.

17. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jin Zhenmei Harassed

A community staff member led police officers to Ms. Jin Zhenmei’s home around 11 a.m. on July 12, 2022. They confiscated posters and a wall calendar and photographed her Falun Gong books.

18. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qiao Chenglin Arrested

Mr. Qiao Chenglin was called to the No.1 Police Station in Shuangshan, Zhangqi District on August 2, 2022. He was taken to have physical examination and his family lost contact with him since. His family received a call from the court the next day asking him to come to the court to pick something up. His family still do not know where Mr. Qiao is.

19. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhan Nanzhen Arrested

Ms. Zhan Nanzhen, 76, was harassed at home twice by officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station in May 2022.

She was recently arrested when she distributed truth-clarifying materials in front of the county theater. After learning that she might be detained for six months, her son signed a guarantee statement on her behalf. Ms. Zhan was released later that day.
