Additional Persecution News from China – May 21, 2022 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Lamei Arrested

At least 21 practitioners were arrested or harassed in the Longsha and Tiefeng Districts in April and May 2022.

Four officers, including Ma Wei from the Tiefeng District Police Department, Li Guofeng from the Longjiang County Police Department, and two officers from the Heigang Police Station, went to Ms. Li Lamei’s home just after 6 a.m. on April 13, 2022. They ransacked Ms. Li’s home, leaving the house in complete disarray. They didn’t allow her son who was in the first grade in the elementary school, to go to school on time until they loaded all the confiscated items including the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, at around 8:30 a.m.

Ms. Li and her husband were taken to the Tiefeng District Police Department for interrogation. Her husband was released at around 4 p.m. Ms. Li was held in the police department until past midnight. During the interrogation, Director Li of the Nanpu Police Station grabbed Ms. Li’s neck and choked her. She was released on bail pending trial.

Three officers including Jia Yunfeng from the Nanpu Police Station went to Ms. Li’s home again. They searched her home but didn’t find anything. Ms. Li was taken to the Tiefeng Police Station and later to the Nanput Police Station. She was handcuffed to a chair until being released at around 9 p.m. that night.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Yanzhong and His Wife Ms. Jiao Ting’e Face Trial

Mr. Xu Yanzhong and his wife Ms. Jiao Ting’e will be tried by the Huangdao Court at 9 a.m. on May 23, 2022.

3. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qi Guoxi Faces Trial

Mr. Qi Guoxi from the Bincheng District was arrested in August 2021. He was denied admission by the detention center due to failing the physical exam and was released on bail pending trial. Mr. Qi was informed that he will be tried by the Bincheng District Court at 3 p.m. on June 1, 2022.

4. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Jin Man and Ms. Wang Songxia Arrested

Mr. Jin Man, in his 60s, lives in the Taiyan Village, Gaojia Town. Ms. Wang Songxia, 83, is a retiree from the Baoji Center Hospital.

Mr. Jin and Ms. Wang were arrested by officers from the Jiangtan Road Police Station at around noon on May 19, 2022.

5. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Wei Saini Arrested

Wei Saini (gender unknown) from Liquan County was arrested by officers from the Liquan County Police Department on the morning of May 19, 2022.

6. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Chen Hanshou Arrested

Mr. Chen Hanshou was arrested at the Yuquan Comprehensive Market by officers from the Kaijiang Road Police Station on the morning of May 20, 2022, for distributing cards with information on how to bypass the CCP’s Internet censorship.

7. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yuxiang Faces Trial

Ms. Wang Yuxiang sued the social security bureau for suspending her pension but lost the case. She is now being sued by the social security bureau and will face trial at 9 a.m. on May 24, 2022.

8. [Ezhou City, Hubei Province] He Chunhua and Ms. Zhang Ailin Arrested

He Chunhua (gender unknown) and Ms. Zhang Ailin were found to have some amulets, and paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts, in their bags. They were taken to the Jiufeng Police Station by officers on May 10, 2022. They refused to cooperate and were handcuffed.

9. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Yong Arrested

Mr. Yang Yong from the Licheng District was seen by home surveillance cameras when he distributed truth clarifying materials in a residential community on April 12, 2022, and was reported to police. Officers from the Yaojia Police Station in the Licheng District ransacked his home on May 10, 2022. They confiscated his computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and truth-clarifying materials. Mr. Yang was fined 5000 yuan and released on bail pending trial.

10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Shaopei and Ms. Yang Jianmei Arrested

Ms. Yang Shaopei and Ms. Yang Jianmei from Xipu were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and were taken to the Fuxin Road Security Guard Office on the morning of May 6, 2022. They refused to sign any documents and were later taken to the Xipu Police Station for interrogation. When they were taken back to the Fuxin Road Security Guard Office again at around 6 p.m., Ms. Yang escaped and went home. The police went to her home around 11 p.m. and ransacked it, and arrested Ms. Yang again.

Ms. Yang Shaopei was released home at around 11:30 p.m. without signing any documents. Ms. Yang Jianmei’s situation is unknown.

11. [Pingjiang County, Hunan Province] Ding Naiying and He Youai Arrested

Ding Naiying (gender unknown) from Tanxu Village of Yuping Town was arrested in Panshan Village by officers from the Yuping Town Police Station on May 16, 2022. Ding’s home was ransacked. Ding is still being detained.

Mr. He Youai from Yuping Town works in the Pingjiang County Memorial Park. He was arrested by officers from the Sanyang Police Station and the county police department on the morning of May 12, 2022. He was released at around 5 p.m. that day. Three of his Falun Gong books were confiscated.

Mr. Xu Xianbing, who also works in the same memorial park, managed to escape. His dormitory and workplace were searched. Some books were confiscated. He left to avoid further persecution.

12. [Beijing] Ms. Huang Qingxiang Missing

Ms. Huang Qingxiang from the Chaoyang District, in her 60s, has not been heard from or seen for a month.

13. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Jiang Arrested

Jiang (first name and gender unknown), 89, was arrested for distributing truth clarifying materials in the Yanjiazhuang Market on May 20, 2022. Jiang was taken to the local police station and body searched. The truth clarifying materials were confiscated. Jiang’s daughter came to take Jiang home. Two officers followed them to Jiang’s home and confiscated all the Falun Gong books.

14. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Guimei Arrested

Ms. Wu Gumei from the Laiwu District was arrested by two plainclothes officers on the morning of May 20, 2022. Ms. Wu was previously reported to police for distributing the truth clarifying materials and was harassed by the police recently.

15. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yi Xi’e Arrested

Ms. Yi Xi’e from Mengyin County was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Mengcheng Police Station at around 3 p.m. on May 20, 2022. The police found she had a 10-yuan bill imprinted with Falun Gong facts, and detained her.

16. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Shufang Arrested

A group of officers went to Ms. Li Shufang’s home in Gegu Town in late March 2022. They ransacked her home and took Ms. Li to the police station. She was released the same day.

Ms. Li was called to the police station on May 12, 2022. She was body searched and handcuffed to a metal chair in the police station. The police photographed her from different angles. Ms. Li was held there for over an hour.

17. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Airu and Ms. Jia Xiulan Arrested

Ms. Liu Airu and Ms. Jia Xiulan live in Caigou Town, Huai’an County. When they were talking about Falun Gong on the street on April 14, 2022, a police car showed up and three officers searched them. After finding USB flash drives and amulets in their bags, they were arrested and taken to the police department. They were handcuffed to a metal chair and scolded. Their homes were ransacked. The door on Ms. Liu Airu’s home was broken open by force. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, USB drives, memory cards, two media players, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other personal belongings from Ms. Liu’s home. They also confiscated numerous Falun Gong books from Ms. Jia’s home.

Ms. Liu and Ms. Jia were released at around 11 p.m. that night.

18. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Zhang Huafu Arrested

Zhang Fuafu (gender unknown), 71, was tricked into opening the door when three women knocked on it and claimed to be conducting nucleic acid tests. Two officers in uniform and one in plainclothes rushed in after the door was opened. They ransacked the home and confiscated all Zhang’s Falun Gong books. Zhang was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released on the same day.
