Miraculous Stories of the Elderly in My Region

The Magical Effects of Changing One’s Notions

Jia is seventy-nine years old. Since his youth, he has suffered from frostbite on his feet every winter. After every summer, he switched to cotton-lined shoes to prepare for the cold. He said, “It seems that my feet don’t get along with me. No matter how early I change into my cotton-lined shoes, how thick they are, or how many pairs I change, it doesn’t work; my feet still get frostbite. It is really hard for me to solve this.”

Jia started to practice Falun Dafa in 1995. One day, fellow practitioners in his local Fa-study group shared their understanding on “notions.” After hearing the miracles experienced by the other practitioners after changing their notions, Jia said, “I feel it’s time for me to find out the reason for my frostbite. I have my cotton-lined shoes on today, even though it’s not that cold yet. Isn’t this what Master said about ‘the attachment of pursuit?’ Isn't this what I am asking for? I’ve developed a stubborn notion of being afraid of having frostbite. I want to change.”

Realizing this, Jia took off his cotton-lined shoes and put on his sneakers again as soon as he got home. As the weather grew colder and colder, Jia did not put on his cotton-lined shoes even when others began to do so, because there was no more frostbite. The condition, which had troubled him for decades, had completely vanished, as he changed his notion and improved in cultivation.

Ms. Liu, from the same study group, is almost eighty years old. She had been wearing a pair of presbyopic glasses since she was in her fifties. When first joining this study group, she would keep rubbing her glasses. Jia said to her, “Take off your glasses and stop wearing them.” Ms. Liu understood right away and took off her glasses with a smile. It has been over ten years now, and Ms. Liu’s eyesight has long been normal. Her children always compliment her, saying, “Our mother’s mind is sharp, and her eyes are bright after practicing Falun Dafa.”

Blind Granny’s Sight Restored

There is a Fa study group in the rural eastern suburbs of our city. Yi, who lost her eyesight when she was in her fifties, is part of this group. People in that village, young and old, referred to her as the “blind woman.”

Yi received audio tapes of Falun Dafa in 1997. From then on, she listened to Master’s teachings at home every day. Not long after, she could slowly see a little. She was so happy that she requested a copy of Zhuan Falun (the core text of Falun Dafa) right away. At home, Yi put on her presbyopic glasses, holding her book in one hand, with a magnifying glass in the other. Like this, she would read Zhuan Falun word by word. When her neighbors came to visit her, they laughed at her. “What are you doing? Why are you trying so hard, wearing glasses and holding a magnifying glass, reading the book through two layers of lenses?” Yi said, “My eyes and body feel very comfortable when I read this book.”

Without realizing it, Yi’s eyesight was fully restored. Putting the magnifying glass down for the first time, she felt strange. The words were still so big! She tried to take off her presbyopic glasses too and found that her vision was normal. From then on, Yi never used a magnifying glass or wore glasses to read the Dafa books again.

When Yi was almost seventy years old, she was still working and full of energy. The young workers always say, “Look at this elderly woman. She is not any weaker than us young people.” People knew that she gained great health from practicing Falun Dafa.

When Yi started to memorize Dafa books in her sixties, her body felt more energetic and youthful. Now that she is eighty years old, and she no longer needs to work, but she is diligently sharing with people the beauty of the practice, and raising awareness about the persecution.

Grandma Returned Compensation Fee After Car Accident

Fellow practitioner Bing lives in the rural southern suburbs of our city. She is in her seventies. Shen went to visit her relatives on February 8, 2018. On her way back home, she became tired from pedaling her tricycle, so she made a stop to sit down and rest on the side of the road.

Just as she sat down, a white car rammed straight into her, and she lost consciousness. She was crushed beneath the car, and the tricycle was overturned. The driver was terrified and held her body, crying, “Grandma! Grandma!” When she came to, she said to the driver, “It’s okay, it’s okay, don’t cry.” More people gathered round, including workers from the surrounding factories.

Bing said repeatedly, “I am fine, I practice Falun Dafa. Don’t worry, and you can leave.” People would not let the driver go and wanted him to take her to the hospital for a checkup. At this time, Bing’s son drove up and insisted that his mother go to the hospital. The driver took out two thousand yuan and handed it to Bing’s son. Bing told her son not to take it. She took the money from her son and gave it to the driver. The driver threw the money out of the car window and left.

The son still insisted on taking his mother to the hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, she thought, “I’m a Dafa disciple. I’ll be fine, as I still have to go out every day to clarify the facts.” As a result, after spending less than two hundred yuan on the examination, there was nothing wrong with Bing. Her son was relieved.

After returning home, Bing’s body ached for a few days and then stopped hurting. She learned that the driver was from the Antun Village, and she went there on February 13 to return the money to the driver. He and his family were very touched. He said, “I’ve heard for a long time that Falun Dafa practitioners are good people, but this time I’ve seen it with my own eyes. These days, there are many people who con other people, let alone return money back, only you Falun Dafa people.” Bing clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to his family, and the whole family happily quit the Chinese Communist Party and said, “Thank you so much! Thank your Master too!”

Soon after, Bing heard people from a nearby village speaking of a young man in Antun Village who crushed a grandma under his car. The grandma was a good person, returning the money that the man gave to her, and miraculously was not hurt.
