(Minghui.org) Because Mr. Liu Jinming didn’t respond to a court summon for suing Jiang Zemin in 2015, the local court ordered him arrested on January 27, 2022, and sentenced him to one year months later.
Mr. Liu, a 56-year-old resident in Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. He filed the lawsuit shortly after the Chinese Supreme People’s Court announced that they would accept any case filed with them. But instead of hearing his case, the court returned his complaint to the local police in Xingcheng, resulting in the prosecution of Mr. Liu by the local court.
While Mr. Liu didn’t respond to the court’s summon back in 2015, the court ordered the police to arrest him on January 27, 2022, when he just finished handling his father’s funeral. Mr. Liu was held at the Caozhuang Detention Center and recently sentenced to one year. It’s not clear why the court waited seven years to sentence him.
Prior to his latest arrest and sentencing, Mr. Liu has lived under tremendous mental pressure in the past two decades due to the persecution. After escaping an arrest on April 29, 2004, when he was found by the police for talking to people about Falun Gong, the police constantly harassed his family members. They broke their front door during one harassment. Mr. Liu was forced to live away from home for two years to hide from the police. His nine-year-old son had to transfer to another school to avoid the harassment. The boy was terrified by the persecution and he was always on the lookout for any police cars near him.
Since the onset of the persecution, many practitioners in the Xingcheng area have been targeted for practicing their faith. Among them, Ms. Song Caihong was beaten to death at the Huludao Lockup, Mr. Guo Chunzhan died due to prison torture, and Ms. Xia Ning suffered distortion of her spine after enduring extreme stretch torture in prison. Another female practitioner whose name isn’t known has gone missing since 2000 when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.
