Additional Persecution News from China – December 3, 2022 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liquan County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Zhang Xiwei Sentenced

Mr. Zhang Xiwei was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Yanta District Court in Xian City.

2. [Shanghai] Ms. He Pingqin Sentenced

Ms. He Pingqin of the Minhang District was detained after she was released on bail pending trial in 2019. She was recently sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Her family is not allowed to visit her. Four security cameras were placed in front of her home. Her family is very worried about her health.

3. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Peng Jianpu Tried in Court

The Hailin City Court held a hearing on Mr. Peng Jianpu’s case in the Muling City Court on November 23, 2022. Ten people came from Hailin City. Six of them attended the hearing. Mr. Peng was asked to sign documents before he left the court. He refused.

4. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Xu Huixian Dies as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Xu Huixia, 71, a retired teacher from Taiping Town, Zhenyuan County, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2015. She was abused in the Lanzhou Women’s Prison. She became skeleton-thin. Guards sent her back to her hometown at 1 a.m. on June 18, 2016. She died on July 8, 2016.

An inmate whose bed was next to Ms. Xu’s noticed that her legs were blue the night before she was taken to the Kangtai Hospital (prison hospital). Around 11 p.m., the inmate heard gulping sounds and went to check her. She was in coma. Blood covered her nose and mouth. Her nose was bleeding. It was learned later that the artery in her nose had ruptured.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Congqing Harassed

Ms. Yang Congqing was stopped by three officers from the Xindu District Police Department when she was riding her electric bike on November 17, 2022. An officer said she violated a regulation and fined her 10 yuan. They had her daughter pay by phone. They took her signature and photographed her.

On the afternoon of November 22, 2022, right after she parked her electric bike on the street, two officers stepped out and took pictures of Ms. Yang. She knew she was being tracked. She rode away.

6. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Shuyun Harassed

Ms. Wu Shuyun’s home was ransacked on the morning of November 30, 2022, by officer Hou Fei and two others from the Huangwu Police Station. They pretended to be health workers coming to schedule nucleic acid tests. She opened the door for them. They seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, and other items. They took Ms. Wu to the police station for a physical exam and extorted 1,000 yuan from her. She was released that afternoon.

7. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Zhiyan Held in Brainwashing Center

Ms. Qu Zhiyan was held in the Shulan Brainwashing Center. The center was located in Xinyue Senior Living on Sandao Street, and was operated between November 9 and November 22, 2022, by the Shulan City Political and Legal Affairs Committee.

8. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Autonomous Region] Ms. Xin Linyuan Left Home to Avoid Persecution

Ms. Xin Linyuan’s home was ransacked at noon on May 15, 2022, by five or six officers. The leader claimed that they were from the Dawukou District Domestic Security Division in Shizuishan City and his family name was Liu.

Ms. Xin was taken to the Shizuishan City Police Department. Since detention centers are not admitting any new inmates due to the pandemic, she was released on bail pending trial.

An officer from the Domestic Security Division called Ms. Xin on June 13, 2022. He ordered her and her family to report to their office for questions. She and her family went there the next day. They had a major car accident on their way there, and the family car worth over 200,000 yuan was totaled.

The Domestic Security officers repeatedly threatened her family with four to seven years or even more, in prison. Ms. Xin has since left home to avoid further persecution.

9. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Ying Songnu Detained

Ms. Ying Songnu was arrested by Haishu District police in September 2022. She is being held in the Haishu Detention Center.

10. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Zhen Arrested

Ms. Yu Zhen of Qilu Petrochemical was arrested by Domestic Security officers in early November 2022. The details are being looked into.

11. [Shuining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Suying Arrested

Ms. Zhang Suying, in her 70s, of Baosheng Township, walked to a bus station on the morning of October 18, 2022. She was heading to Moxichang Town when a white car stopped next to her. She was dragged into the car and taken to the Moxi Police Station. The police searched her, seized her Falun Gong pamphlets and photographed her.

The officers ordered Ms. Zhang to sign a document renouncing Falun Gong. She refused. They took her to her home and ransacked the place. They did not find anything they wanted, and finally left.
