1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] List of Practitioners Held in Custody

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the Dalian City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office have instructed the Dalian City Domestic Security Division and the State Security Division to follow practitioners, place them under surveillance, and tap their phones. Every year they’ve carried out campaigns to arrest a large number of practitioners.

On June 2, 2021, the Dalian City Political and Legal Affairs Committee ordered the Dalian City Domestic Security Division to coerce police stations to arrest practitioners who had been under surveillance for a long time in different counties and districts. The police arrested 30 to 40 practitioners and ransacked their homes. Numerous families were implicated. More than 30 practitioners who practice steadfastly have been taken into custody.

As of January 1, 2022, about 150 practitioners have been held in custody in various prisons and detention centers in Dalian. Among the above practitioners in custody is Wang Yuhe, who is 80 years old, and three practitioners (Pan Xueming, Ren Haifei, Liu Xiyong, and Yu Yinghua) who have developed illness symptoms.

Ms. Zhong Shujuan, who was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, passed away in Liaoning Women’s Prison at the end of December 2021 as a result of severe abuse.

2. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Juan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Chen Juan was arrested by officers from the Dehui City Domestic Security Division and the Tiantai Township Police Station on July 9, 2020. She was released on bail after 10 days of detention. Her family had to pay 50,000 yuan to the Dehui Domestic Security Division.

At the end of March 2021, Zhang Fugui, a member of the 610 Office of the Dehui Political and Legal Affairs Committee, went to Ms. Chen’s home to pressure her to sign paperwork renouncing her belief and forcibly videotaped her. Ms. Chen adamantly refused to comply. That afternoon, officers from the Domestic Security Division called and threatened her again, saying that they would report her to their superiors.

At 8 a.m. on July 5, 2021, instructed by the Dehui City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office, the city’s Domestic Security Division took Ms. Chen to Minxin Hospital for a physical exam. Then they took her to the Changchun City Central Hospital for another exam. Ms. Chen was released the same day and told that her case files had been submitted to the Dehui City Court.

On July 20, 2021, Ms. Chen was tried in the Dehui City Court. No verdict was announced and she was released to go home and wait for the result. On November 9, 2021, Ms. Chen was taken to the Illness Ward in Changchun City Central Hospital. It was reported recently that Ms. Chen was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and is still held in the Illness Ward, which occupies the entire sixth floor and is operated by the Changchun City Police Department.

3. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Numerous Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Wensheng Police Station in the Baita District broke in to the home of Mr. Zhao and his wife Ms. Bao on December 8, 2021. They arrested Ms. Li Ying, 54; Ms. Cui Rong, in her 40s; Mr. Li Peixin from Anshan City; and another practitioner from out of the town who was staying in the couple’s home. Ms. Li’s home was ransacked and her Falun Gong items were confiscated.

Mr. Li had his national ID card, which the officers took. More than 20 officers arrived at his home around 8 p.m. that night. They ransacked it and confiscated 44 Falun Gong books, a computer, and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Mr. Li refused to cooperate when they tried to collect his fingerprints and was viciously beaten by more than a dozen Domestic Security officers. His rib cage still hurts and his thighs are swollen. When Mr. Li glanced at one of the officers, he was slapped twice.

It was reported that the practitioner from out of the town refused to cooperate, did not disclose his identity, and has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Liu Lijuan, around 70, was arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Station in the Guta District around mid-December 2021 and is now being held in the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Liu was previously arrested by Yong’an Police Station officers and sentenced to three years in prison. The year she was arrested, her husband had a stroke. She still is not getting her retirement pension, which was withheld while she was imprisoned.

5. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Guangzhen Harassed

Two police officers, two SWAT officers, and a member of the residential committee went to Ms. Liang Guangzhen’s home on December 14, 2021. They pressured her to sign paperwork, took photos of her home, recorded her voice, and videotaped her. They also asked her if she was still practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Liang said, “I follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. How can I not abide by such a good practice? I will continue no matter what.” They saw a copy of Zhuan Falun on the table and said they planned to take it, but Ms. Liang stopped them.

6. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lin Lehong on Hunger Strike for Over a Month

Ms. Lin Lehong, in her 40s, is being held in the No. 354 Cell of the Longgang Detention Center. She has been on a hunger strike for over a month.

7. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Two Practitioners’ Bank Accounts Frozen

Ms. Li Ruihua and Mr. Wu Rui were arrested and taken to the Yantian Detention Center in May 2019. They were both sentenced to two years in prison by the Yantian District Court in April 2021.

After returning home, they were compelled to pay fines. After Ms. Li refused to pay the fine, the Yantian Court froze her bank account and transferred 3,000 yuan directly from her bank card.

When Mr. Wu refused to pay the fine, his bank card and both WeChat and Alipay payment accounts were frozen. Since there was no money in his bank or payment accounts, the officials failed to make any withdrawals. Mr. Wu has been banned from buying high-speed rail tickets and airplane tickets. The Yantian Court even asked a lawyer to call Mr. Wu’s family to pay the fine, but the family refused.

8. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Song Wentao Arrested

Mr. Song Wentao was arrested and taken to the Songshan Police Station by four plainclothes officers when he talked to people about Falun Gong and distributed desk calendars around 10:30 a.m. on January 2, 2022. Director Han and another officer grabbed Mr. Song’s arms, took off his hat and mask, and used their cell phones to photograph him. They also took pictures of a dozen or so calendars, dozens of QR code cards, amulets and other items in his bag.

At about 2 p.m. an officer took a piece of paper with a photo printed on it and asked Mr. Song to sign it, which he refused to do. At 4:30 p.m. the director took out a form and said, “Then you write down the time on this form and go home.” Mr. Song returned home after 4:30 p.m. He’d spent six hours in the police station.

9. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jia Jingwen Held in Detention Center

Mr. Jia Jingwen was arrested on December 19, 2021. He is being held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

10. [Tianjin] Ms. Hou Xiujuan Arrested

Ms. Hou Xiujuan from Xiaotun Village, Chengguan Township, the Wuqing District, was arrested by Dongmaquan Police Station officers when she distributed information about Falun Gong and talked to people about Falun Gong at the Dongmaquan farmers’ market on September 28, 2021. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of Falun Gong’s founder. Ms. Hou is being held in the Wuqing Detention Center.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhuang Hong’ai Detained

Ms. Zhuang Hong’ai, 55, from the Xinzhaizi Sub-district was arrested by officers from the Xinzhaizi Police Station on her way to work around 7 a.m. on January 3, 2022. She is being held in the Zhi’an Detention Center for 15 days of detention.

12. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Chen Lin, Yao Zhongmei, and Chen Jianbo are family members. Chen Lin was arrested on September 28, 2021. Yao Zhongmei was arrested on November 28. Chen Jianbo was arrested on November 19. They are being held in the Yongxing Town Detention Center.

13. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Jichang Arrested

Officers from the Chaocheng Township Police Station in Shen County broke into Mr. Zhao Jichang’s home and arrested him on December 30, 2021.
