(Minghui.org) A 63-year-old woman was sentenced to three years after she was arrested for the ninth time for her faith in Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhao Shuzhi, of Hulunbeir City, Inner Mongolia, took up Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline, in January 1999, six months before the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution that has continued to this day. She credits the practice for quickly curing her migraines, as well as her heart and stomach condition.

For upholding her faith, she was arrested eight times between July 1999 and August 2017. She served three labor camp terms and a prison term. Her husband divorced her in 2012. When she was forced to live away from home to hide from the police, they constantly harassed her family members instead.

Ms. Zhao’s latest arrest was on April 9, 2020 at a bus station, together with another practitioner Ms. Ren Xiaomei. As they refused to show their IDs, the security guard reported them to the police, who then came and took them to the Arun Banner Detention Center.

Both practitioners were tried by the Zalantun City Court through a video conference on October 30, 2020. The judge handed out a 20,000-yuan fine to Ms. Zhao and a 2,000-yuan fine to Ms. Ren.

The judge sentenced Ms. Ren to nine months in November and Ms. Zhao to three years in December. At the time of writing, Ms. Ren has been released and Ms. Zhao has been taken to the Hohhot No.1 Women's Prison.
