Additional Persecution News from China – June 22, 2021 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 33 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Several practitioners in the Xuecheng District were arrested. Jiang Yan, Wang Jie, Liu Ying, and Chu Zhiping are being held in an undisclosed location.

2. [Xichang City, Shichuan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Li Yingqiong and Ms. Ai Chonghui were harassed by officer Peng Yuanchao and two others from the Huidong County Domestic Security Division on April 10, 2021. The officers ordered them to sign papers renouncing Falun Gong and threatened to jeopardize the careers of their sons and grandsons if they did not do it. Ms. Li and Ms. Ai refused to sign, but their families were worried.

The group ordered Ms. Ai to sign on April 11, 2021. She refused. They ordered her husband to sign, but he would not do it either. They then went to Ms. Bai Lishu’s home and ordered her son to sign. Her son refused. Her husband said, “She has to practice. She fell several days ago and hurt her tailbone. Afterwards, she could not move. She recovered by just reading the book Zhuan Falun, doing the exercises, and without taking any medicine. We, her family members, witnessed this. She must continue practicing.”

Ms. Li Yingqiong was harassed at home on May 7, 2021, by several people including community officer Dong Li. Her husband told them that he used to work in a propaganda department and did work similar to theirs. His wife regained her health after she began practicing, and her outlook on life became positive. Now she takes good care of her family and is kind and optimistic. He and their grandson benefit from that. The group was speechless, wrote down her daughter-in-law’s number, and left.

Ms. Zhang Youfen was harassed by three clerks from her community in early May 2021. They tried to make her sign a document renouncing Falun Gong and to say that she would stop distributing Falun Gong flyers or asking people to quit the CCP. She refused.

3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xia Mingjin and Ms. Tang Manxiang Subjected to Brainwashing

Ms. Xia Mingjin and Ms. Tang Manxiang were arrested on the morning of June 15, 2021. Their homes were ransacked. They were held in a brainwashing center. The center ordered their family members to come with them and used it as a means to pressure practitioners into “transforming.”

4. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Li Shuming, Ms. Huang Dagui, and Ms. Han Guangrong were harassed by police.

Ms. Li Shuming’s son and grandson received harassing calls from police on May 13, 2021. Her son was frightened and became angry with her.

Ms. Huang Dagui was intercepted and photographed against her will by police in early June 2021.

Ms. Han Guangrong has been harassed more than ten times from “door knocking” to the “zero-out” campaign. When the police could not find her, they repeatedly made harassing calls to her daughter, son, and daughter-in-law, demanding to know her address. They went to her son’s home and photographed him. They called her son to the police station for an “inquiry,” and had him ask his mother to sign papers renouncing Falun Gong. They came to Ms. Han's home three times from May to June.

Clerks from her community and a male officer from the Xiyu Police Station forcibly entered her home on May 11, 2021. She was not there. They told her older brother to have her report to the police station and sign a document renouncing Falun Gong.

A man and a woman came and claimed to check the natural gas line in Ms. Han's home—thus the door was opened for them on the morning of June 18, 2021. They started to photograph the interior as soon as they entered her home.

5. [Hengyang County, Hunan Province] Additional News on Mr. Peng Junnan’s Arrest

Three or four officers from the Hengyang City Railroad Domestic Security Division, led by team leader Zhao, went to Mr. Peng Junnan’s apartment for harassment on June 12, 2021. He was not at home. They broke his lock, went in, and seized his computers, printers, cell phones, Falun Gong pamphlets, keepsakes, U-drives, software to overcome the CCP's Internet censorship, a copy of Zhuan Falun, printer paper, and other items. They waited there the entire morning. When he returned home, they arrested him.

He was interrogated in the Domestic Security Division. They tried everything to make him speak and recorded his words on a computer. They held him all afternoon, but he refused to sign the record. They then drove him to a detention center. The detention center guards took his blood pressure, which was over 190. The guards refused to admit him. They had to take him back after 10:00 p.m.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Han Arrested

Ms. Han (first name unknown), around 58, was arrested by officers from the Daoli District Domestic Security Division around June 17, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Officers seized her property, which filled a car.

7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Mao Jiaping Detained

Ms. Mao Jiaping, 54, was arrested on June 2, 2021. She is being held in the Dalian Detention Center.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Huang Honglei Faces Trial

Mr. Huang Honglei’s case was submitted to the Luannan Court in early June 2021.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Wen Fabi Harassed

Ms. Wen Fabi was harassed at home by eight people from the Lijiatuo Police Station, street office, and residential committee on June 7, 2021. They demanded that she stop practicing Falun Gong.

10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Zhaoqing Detained

Ms. Li Zhaoqing was arrested by officers from the Jihong Police Station on June 2, 2021. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center. Her daughter is studying in another city. She is the sole caregiver for her over eighty-year-old father and her husband, who cannot take care of himself.

11. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Huixiang Harassed

Several officers went to Ms. Zheng Huixiang’s home on April 20, 2021. They left since no one was there.

Several officers knocked on her door again on May 9. No one was home, so they left.

Three officers from the Xiguan Police Station went to her home at around 10:00 a.m. on June 4. Her husband was home. The officers videotaped around the place.

12. [Chongqing] Ms. Ren Xianglian Harassed

Ms. Ren Xianglian received several harassing calls from officer He Jianping from the Lianglu Police Station on the afternoon of May 9, 2021. She was harassed at home by the officer the next day.

Officers, including He, went to her home at 2:00 p.m. on May 11. They beat on her door for over two hours. Their shouting disturbed the quiet neighborhood.

13. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Practitioners Harassed

Officers from the Fate Police Station and other police stations went to practitioners’ homes on May 12, 2021. Ms. Li Fengling, Ms. Liu Lifen, and Ms. Zhou Jinghua were not at home. Yu Changlan (gender unknown) was at home and was arrested and taken to the police station. Officers interrogated Yu and tried to force him or her to sign a document renouncing Falun Gong. Yu was released after midnight.

Mr. Sun Zhongwei was harassed at home by the director of the Fate Police Station and officers Jiang Litao and Guan Xin. They ransacked his home but did not find what they were looking for. They then went to the homes of Ms. Lu Qingying and Ms. Huang Shubo, but neither of the practitioners was at home.

Mr. Liu Yongcun was harassed at home on the evening of May 12, 2021. Police ransacked his home and seized his personal items. They tried to extort 700 yuan from him but failed. Because he was bedridden for several days, he was spared being arrested.

Officers went to Ms. Wu Liwen’s home on the morning of May 13, 2021. Ms. Wu was not at home. A police car went to Ms. Liu (first name unknown) after 10:00 a.m. the same day. Officers ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books, and arrested her. She was released after she was interrogated in a police station. But two local officers went to her home between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. They tried to force her to sign “five statements” renouncing Falun Gong and extort 700 yuan from her. Her family refused to pay it. When the police learned she was illiterate, they ordered her son to sign for her and threatened to arrest her if he did not do it.

14. [Dingxi City, Gansu Province] Mr. Yan Yuanjing Detained

Mr. Yan Yuanjing put up Falun Gong flyers in the Gongxingdun area around February 6, 2021. Officers from the Gongxingdun Police Station traced him to his daughter’s home through the CCP's surveillance and facial recognition systems. They identified the names and phone numbers of him, his wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law.

Two officers from the Baxia Police Station, Lintao County, went to his home under orders from the Lanzhou Domestic Security and the Gongxingdun Police Station on March 28, 2021. He was not at home. The officers demanded that his wife find him and get him to come home. His wife refused.

The next day, four officers, one from the Lanzhou Domestic Security Division, one from the Gongxingdun Police Station, and two from the Baxia Police Station, went to Mr. Yan's home and arrested him and his wife. They interrogated him in the Baxia Police Station before he and his wife were released.

Around April 12, the four officers went to his home again. He was not at home. They ransacked the place and seized his Falun Gong books, a computer, and other items. They ordered his wife to tell them his whereabouts and called his son and daughter for the same purpose. To avoid further persecution, Mr. Yan and his wife went to their daughter’s apartment in the Beijing suburbs.

The Lanzhou Domestic Security Division and the Gongxingdun Police Station worked with the Suburbs Police Station in Beijing and found his daughter’s apartment through their cell phone locator around June 2, 2021. They broke into the apartment and arrested him still in his slippers. He was taken away from Beijing to the Gongxingdun Police Station.

Mr. Yan was taken to Ping’antai, Lanzhou, to be detained around June 4, 2021.
