(Minghui.org) Six women in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, were sentenced to prison on April 8, 2021, for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Liu Guoxiu, 84, was sentenced to 2.5 years with 3 years probation. Ms. Shen Guofeng and Ms. Du Huizhen were each given 3 years with 3.5 years probation. Ms. Luo Zhaolan, Ms. Huang Gangjun, and Ms. Wei Kehua were each sentenced to 3.5 years. They were also fined 5,000 yuan each.

The six women were arrested on November 18, 2019, at Ms. Liu’s home while making calendars with information about Falun Gong.

They were held in the Chengdu City Detention Center, and their arrests were approved on December 26, 2019.

During the practitioners’ hearing in the Xindu District Court on March 5, 2021, the presiding judge, Fu Hua, joked that he almost specialized in sentencing Falun Gong practitioners.

Judge Fu had sentenced nine other Falun Gong practitioners to prison since 2016: Ms. Ding Hui, Mr. Lin Xiaoquan, and Mr. Zheng Bin were sentenced in 2016. Ms. Ding suffered a mental breakdown due to torture while in custody. Mr. Feng Guiqing was sentenced in 2017. Ms. Huang Xiangling and Ms. Fu Fazhi were sentenced in 2019. Mr. Chen Yixin and his wife Ms. Zheng Tiaoqiong were each sentenced to 1.5 years on September 24, 2020. Mr. Wang Guohua was sentenced to three years on October 22, 2020.
