VI. Experience of an Eighty-Year-Old Practitioner
Mingming (nickname) was a technology professional before he retired. Born in Emei Township in Sichuan Province, Mingming’s mother and grandmother worshiped Buddhas. His family was hardworking, tolerant, and willing to help others. Under their influence, Mingming believed in the existence of divine beings and the principle that “good will be rewarded and evil punished” since he was young. He was indifferent to fame and fortune.
Mingming started practicing Falun Dafa in March 1997. He follows Master’s teachings, and improves his xinxing according to the Fa. He reads one or two lectures of Zhuan Falun every day, and has repeatedly watched recordings of Master’s lectures, and read Master’s teachings from different conferences.
No matter how severe the persecution became it couldn’t shake his faith in Falun Dafa. He said, “Dafa is what I have been looking for my entire life. The purpose of my life is to help Master rectify the Fa. It’s Falun Dafa disciples’ sacred mission to clarify the truth and offer salvation to sentient beings. I can’t slack off.”
The following is Mingming’s account of his experiences.
Appealing for Falun Dafa in Beijing
“In order to clarify the truth to the government, I wrote an appeal letter, and I planned to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in May 2000. However, the authorities in my residential community found out about it as soon as I reserved a train ticket. They tried to stop me, but I managed to leave, and made it to Beijing by myself. I openly submitted my letter at the National Appeals Office, and returned home safely.”
“After I returned, officers from the local police station visited me at home. I told them that as a citizen and a retired public servant, I had the constitutional right to appeal, and any harassment of Falun Dafa practitioners was against the Constitution. I asked them, ‘Haven’t you learned from the lesson of the Cultural Revolution? When the wrongs done against Falun Dafa are rectified, won't you be blamed?’ The police officers said repeatedly that they had no choice. They were following orders—but they didn’t get anything from their visit.”
As Master told us,

“When I went to an experience sharing meeting in 2000 over 40 fellow practitioners and I were arrested by local police. A police officer found my Zhuan Falun book, but I refused to surrender it. I kept telling the police the true story of Falun Dafa, and reminding them that they were violating a citizen’s freedom of belief. Eventually they let me go.”
Establishing a Truth-Clarification Materials Production Site
In 2012, when I was 75, I decided to establish a truth-clarification materials production site in my home. I wished to lighten fellow practitioners’ work loads, and meet the increasing need for truth-clarification materials in our area.”
“I didn’t know anything about computers. My hands were clumsy with the mouse, I couldn’t tell left-click from right-click, and I forgot instructions as soon as I learned them. I blamed my age and clumsiness. However, I thought Falun Dafa disciples should be able to handle anything, and I overcame my difficulties. I took notes on every step, and drew illustrations. It took me countless times to remember a process.”
“With Master’s help I quickly mastered the skill of downloading files. To make quality products quickly, I asked my daughter, who lived abroad, to buy me a good laser printer. She asked her friend in my town to help. When she heard I was a Falun Dafa practitioner, her friend happily helped me. He gave me a spare printer, saying it was his contribution to Falun Dafa. My daughter later sent me a laser printer, which amazingly passed through customs under Master’s arrangement.”
Master Protected Us During the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake
“My class planned a reunion in Dujiangyan on May 12, 2008, however I had an ominous feeling about that day. I made a special trip to Dujiangyan ahead of time and warned my classmates. I suggested that we reschedule our reunion to April, but they did not listen to me. May 12 turned out to be the day of the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, which killed 69,000 people.”
“Early on the morning of May 12, I took a bus from Chengdu to Dujiangyan, and sent forth righteous thoughts along the way to eliminate the old forces and the specter of communism.”
“The ground started shaking at 2:28 p.m., right after we finished lunch. Within a second, our hotel building started shaking, and blocks of cement started dropping. My classmate who was sharing a hotel room with me hid under the bed. I did not panic—instead I sat on the floor and sent forth righteous thoughts.”
“Out of the 42 people at the reunion, one couple was knocked down by collapsing walls as they ran down stairs, and died from their injuries. The other 40 people stayed safe. Our hotel building remained standing except for the collapsed front office, while all the other buildings around it were flattened to the ground. Several of my classmates had learned the truth of Falun Dafa, and quit the communist organizations. They knew that Master protected us and were sincerely grateful.”
Father Saved by Falun Dafa
“By August, 2000, when my parents were in their 90s, my entire family started practicing Falun Dafa. We all personally experienced the amazing power of Falun Dafa. The incident my father had in December 2008 left me with the deepest impression.”
“Father’s nose started bleeding one day in December 2008. He put some cold water on the back of his neck, but it didn’t help. Blood rushed out like running water, and got all over the stairs.”
“As soon as I heard about it I rushed home and told father to send forth righteous thoughts with me to eliminate this persecution. His nose stopped bleeding after we sent forth righteous thoughts for about ten minutes. I said to my parents, ‘Though both of you are experiencing sickness karma, don’t skip Fa study and exercises.’ (Mother’s ankle and back had been injured recently. Father had a fever. They hadn’t done the exercises for over a week.)”
“My wife and I studied the Fa with my parents after dinner. Father said the Fa we read that day touched his heart. He realized that he had a strong attachment to his business.”
“Father’s nose started bleeding again at around 4 o’clock that night. He put a tissue into his nostrils, but blood came out from his mouth, and stained a large area of his bed. I told my parents, ‘Don’t be afraid. It’s cleansing. As long as we hold strong faith in Master and Dafa, nothing can block us. We should look within for our own attachments in face of these tribulations.’ We all sat down to send forth righteous thoughts together. His nosebleed gradually stopped.”
“My wife and I went back to bed after we made sure father had fallen asleep. My wife had a dream in which someone cried, ‘Hurry, dad has died!’ My wife immediately thought, ‘It’s impossible! We are Dafa disciples.’ The evil obviously was attempting to scare us. My sister said that she also heard a voice saying, ‘Your dad has died,’ after father’s bleeding stopped. All of us were Dafa practitioners. We knew that it was testing our sentiments while father was going through a life and death test.”
“Father’s nosebleed worsened on the third day, and tissues couldn’t absorb the blood fast enough. I had to use a plastic bag to collect his blood. It looked like we had done everything in vain. I could no longer remain calm, and called my other sister who lived in another town. She was the one who had introduced us to Dafa.”
“My sister told us, ‘It’s a false appearance. We must keep Master’s words in mind,’”

“‘We should eliminate any thought not in accordance with the Fa. Let’s send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate any interfering factors in parents’ dimensions.’”
“My sister also said that the key was in father’s hands, and Master would help him out if he could let go of his attachment to life and death. She hoped father would send forth righteous thoughts at the beginning of each hour, and spend as much time as possible studying the Fa. She said that since the Fa rectification hadn’t ended, every one of us was needed to save sentient beings, so we shouldn’t leave the world, but should do the three things well.”
My sister added, “Actually, all of us have to face this test of sentiment and death. It concerns everyone. When all of us can let go of our attachment, we’ll pass the test. Master is the only one in charge, and the only one who has the say, not the old forces.”
“With sister’s encouragement, father eliminated his fear and made a wish to study the Fa and do the three things well. Even though his bleeding continued at dinner time, father was no longer afraid. He sent forth righteous thoughts by himself, and didn’t ask us to help.”
“By nine o’clock in the evening, father seemed to be too weak to stand. I supported him to go to the bathroom, and helped him back to bed. He immediately fell asleep. After a while, father suddenly woke up, and asked, ‘Is it time to do exercises?’ Mom asked him, ‘Is that what you want to do?’ Father replied, ‘I’m fine. I just want to do the exercises.’ He fell back asleep. His nose didn’t bleed again.”
“When father woke up the next morning, my wife said to him, ‘Don’t go to work in your store any more. We don’t need more money. You can spend more time studying the Fa and doing the three things.’ Father replied, ‘Yes!’ (Father indeed spent a lot of time and energy on the store.)
My wife noticed that father’s swollen face became normal, and the color of his face looked much better after he said “Yes!”
“My parents completely recovered. They became energetic, and their faces looked rosy. Everyone who heard about their experience marveled at the power of Falun Dafa. Now they get up early in the morning to study the teachings by themselves, and join group study sessions later in the day. Mother can’t read, but she listens to audio recordings of Master’s lectures, and planned to learn how to read Zhuan Falun.”
“Our whole family passed this tough test under Master’s compassionate care. We all felt we improved our xinxing after this experience, and started doing the three things more diligently. We deeply appreciate Master’s compassionate salvation. He has given father a second life!”
