New Surge of COVID Infections Sweeps Through China

(Minghui.org) A new wave of COVID infections is sweeping through China. Since October 17, 2021, cases have been reported in twenty provinces. As of November 5, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Henan ranked as the top three provinces in new confirmed cases, according to Chinese official media.

Other affected areas include Beijing, Qinghai, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shandong, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Henan, and Shaanxi.

According to China’s National Health Commission, 65 new confirmed cases were reported across China as of November 7. However, the official data has been questioned by the outside world, due to the Chinese Communist Party’s cover-up of the epidemic.

Gene Sequencing Shows Virus Mutation

In both Heihe City of Heilongjiang Province and Shijiazhuang City of Hebei Province, breakthrough cases in people with three doses of Chinese-made vaccines were reported.

Chinese health officials acknowledged the situation in Heihe City is serious and complicated. Gene sequencing showed that multiple virus strains were being transmitted at the same time.

Authorities Implement Stricter Control

While the pandemic in China continues to spread, local governments in various provinces and cities continue to implement stricter and more extensive restrictions. Tens of thousands of people have been marked by the government as having “suspicious contacts” based on their mobile phone location data and marked as requiring quarantine without being confirmed to have had close contacts.

If a person’s phone is detected to be within 0.5 miles of an infected person for at least ten minutes, the person is classified as a “time-space sharer” of the infected person. The “time-space sharer” is then required to report his/her recent whereabouts to the authorities and undergo two COVID tests within three days. Even if the test results are negative, the person still needs to self-quarantine for 14 days and would not be allowed to leave home during this period. Officials call this measure “self health monitoring.”

Many Chinese who have not set foot in any officially designated epidemic areas or been in contact with any confirmed COVID patients are still identified as “suspicious contacts” by these quarantine rules. They usually find that their “health code” on their cellphones have turned yellow without warning and are classified as a “time-space sharer.”

According to a netizen, a cafeteria worker at Haihua College of Liaoning Normal University was infected and 15,000 students are facing possible quarantine. When new cases were reported in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, students at Southwest Jiaotong University were told to stay on campus unless they obtained special permission to go out.
