Additional Persecution News from China – May 8, 2020 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in ten cities or counties in seven provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Tianjin] Five Practitioners Abused in Prison

Mr. Zhou Xiangyang, Mr. Lan Deman, Mr. Li Yongquan, Mr. Wang Shanting, and Mr. Ren Ruiqing have been mistreated in Binhai Prison.

Mr. Zhou was arrested at home on March 2, 2015. He has been on a hunger strike on and off for five years and two months. He is emaciated and extremely weak.

Mr. Lan from the Beichen District has been repeatedly beaten, forced to sit on a “small stool,” and deprived of sleep.

Mr. Li, a dentist from Wuqing District, was sentenced to an 11-year prison term. He became disabled as a result of the beatings and now needs crutches to walk. He has no money in his prison account and is unable to buy any daily necessities.

Mr. Wang from Ji County has been placed in solitary confinement.

Mr. Ren from the Wuqing District suffered a mental collapse after being tortured.

2. [Xuanhua County, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Jianlu’s Case Sent to Procuratorate

Mr. Yang Jianlu's case was sent to the Procuratorate on April 15, 2020. His attorney met him on May 6. His case is due to be filed in court.

3. [Shanghai] Mr. Tian Hui Detained

Mr. Tian Hui was arrested by officers from the Yangpu District Police Department on February 4, 2020. An arrest warrant was issued on March 6. He is being held in the Yangpu Detention Center.

4. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Wenjie and Ms. Hao Liqin Facing Trial

Mr. Wang Wenjie and Ms. Hao Liqin from Mutoudeng Town in Qinglong County are due to be tried by the Changli Court on May 7, 2020. They have become displaced.

5. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Ms. Ci Yunmei and Her Husband Arrested

Ms. Ci Yunmei and her husband from Chenjiadian Village in Helong Town were arrested by officers from the Helong Police Station on April 23, 2020. Her husband was released later that night because he suffered a stroke. Ms. Ci's whereabouts are unknown.

6. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Han Lanying Detained

Ms. Han Lanying, around 80, was arrested at home in late August 2019. Police confiscated her Falun Gong books, materials, and over a million yuan. She has been detained since then.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Sufang and Ms. Tang Xiumei Arrested

Ms. Guo Sufang, 70, and Ms. Tang Xiumei, over 50, from the Fangzi District were arrested on the morning of May 7, 2020, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a flea market north of Anqiu City.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ni Changli Arrested

Ms. Ni Changli was arrested by officers from the Gaojiacun Police Station on February 18, 2020, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the police station, where officers forcibly took her photo, fingerprints, blood sample, and made her sign their paperwork.

9. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Guo Yuying Detained

Ms. Guo Yuying, 76, was taken to the Youhao Detention Center in late April 2020.

10. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Guizhen Detained

Ms. Luo Guizhen was taken to the Pengxi County Detention Center on April 25, 2020.
