(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Jinling received a call from an unknown number on April 27, 2019, and was asked to take her ID to the community room in her village to receive a package.
She went there, only to be handcuffed and arrested by the officers who had been waiting there. The 46-year-old resident of Yantai City, Shandong Province was brought to Fushan Detention Center that evening.
The police raided her home the next day and confiscated her laptop and a desktop calendar printed with information about Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
After one month of detention in Yantai, Ms. Zhang was transferred to Xuzhou City Detention Center in the neighboring Jiangsu Province. The authorities kept her family in the dark of her situation for months and only notified them after she had been secretly sentenced to 3.5 years in November 2019 by a court in Xuzhou for practicing Falun Gong.
It was reported that Ms. Zhang stayed in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province that is adjacent to Xuzhou for a year and had contact with some Falun Gong practitioners in Xuzhou.
After one of the Xuzhou practitioners she knew was arrested, the Xuzhou authorities also found out information about her and pressed charged against her.
