Falun Gong Practitioners Really Are That Good
(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Gong in August 1997. During 20 years of cultivation, my body and mind have changed a lot. People say that I look like I'm in my early 60s, when I am actually 76 and still going strong.
I have improved my xinxing by following the Falun Gong principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.” In today’s society of deteriorating moral values, the good character shown by Falun Gong adherents is recognized by more and more people.
Dealing with Accusations
I rode an electric tricycle to pick up my grandson from Dongcheng Elementary School at 4:30 p.m. in 2009. My grandson chatted about his plans for the upcoming 7-day holiday. We saw a young girl lying on the ground at the crossroads. She was crying and her head was bleeding. I stopped and asked her what had happened and what her name was. No matter what I said, she just cried.
We were about two miles from my neighborhood and I thought perhaps she was from our area. So I put her on the tricycle with my grandson and took her there. When we arrived, I asked my grandson to continue home by himself. I took the young girl to the community medical station and asked the doctor to treat her injuries. After treating her, the doctor and I asked her for her parents’ name and phone number; but all she did was cry.
I looked in her school bag and found her name, and learned that she was a first-year student at Dongcheng Elementary School. When I went to pay the doctor, he refused the payment and said, “You can't do this. How can I take your money?” I thanked the doctor and left.
What should I do? This must be a child who came from the countryside to attend school. I called my wife and asked her to sit on the tricycle and hold the young girl. I rode back to the place where we found her on the road and again asked her where she lived. She stopped crying and guided me to her mother’s workplace.
Her mother worked in a small sewing factory three miles away. She asked her daughter what happened. The girl said she fell down. Her mother thanked me for helping her daughter. When we chatted a little bit, I learned that they came from a rural area near my hometown. We were happy to meet each other. During the conversation, I could see that they were in a difficult situation. I told her my address and asked her to visit us if she needed help in the future.
Someone banged on my door at 8:00 p.m. on October 2. Upon opening the door, I saw the child’s parents and the daughter. I thought that they had come to thank me. I greeted them and then offered them tea.
The child’s father stopped me, saying, “No need.” He said seriously, “The child’s issue is not over. Do you want to handle this publicly or privately?”
Before I had a chance to tell him what happened, he said, “Wasn't it you who hit my daughter? Otherwise, you wouldn't have brought her home. Such a good person doesn't exist.”
He continued, “We can talk about compensation if we handle this privately. I already talked to the traffic police. They will have the surveillance camera video, but they are on vacation now. The recording should be available by the ninth.”
“Well, if that is the case, let traffic police handle it then,” I answered calmly. He angrily left.
The next day my friend saw me and told me that the child’s parents went to my neighborhood committee, the property manager, and the community medical station, and told people that I hit a young girl, and lied about it to avoid taking responsibility.
When I told my friend what really happened, he said, “Nowadays, how many people are reasonable? He will try to cheat you and squeeze money from you for sure.” I told him not to worry about me.
I arrived at the traffic police office at 9:00 a.m. on October 9, but the child’s parents weren’t there. I waited for an hour, but they still didn't show up. An officer asked me to find the parents. I went to the sewing factory to get the mother, but she didn't want to come. At my insistent request, the factory director agreed to accompany the mother to the office so we could get to the truth of the matter.
The police released the video recording, and the truth of what happened was clear. The young girl fell while fighting with a boy over a bottle of water. The video also showed how I picked the girl up and put her on my tricycle. The traffic police asked both of us to sign a declaration.
At this time, I said, “The facts are there. I didn’t hit your child, but you went to my community to badmouth me, which damaged my reputation. I only ask that you return to my community and restore my reputation.”
The factory director said, “Of course it should be done.” So the three of us went to my neighborhood.
My friend later told me that many people know that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. They say, “Falun Gong practitioners really are that good!”
