(Minghui.org) When I went out with other Falun Dafa practitioners to talk to people about Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), we often went to the town square to chat with the seniors there.
It was easy to start a conversation with them because we are also seniors. However, when I suggested that they quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and any of its organizations, some seniors accused us of being against the Party. They still believed in the CCP, and were deeply deceived by the lies and propaganda put out by the state-run media.
When we talked to these types of people, we had a tendency to look down on them. We even gossiped among ourselves, saying such things like, “In the future, they will regret not listening to us.”
Master said,
“When our compassion emerges, we will probably find all living beings and every person suffering. This will happen.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)
Because I lacked compassion, and a sense of responsibility toward these people, I couldn't persuade many in the square to quit the CCP, so I stopped going.
Changing Location
We then started to go to the bus station. Many people pass through there, and we managed to help many people quit the Party. However, sometimes we still encountered challenges.
An angry farmer within earshot yelled: “Who allowed you to talk here about Falun Gong? The government doesn't allow people to practice it. You are against the CCP. I know people in the police department.” He acted as if he was planning to report me to the authorities.
I felt sorry for someone who was so blindly loyal to the CCP, and hated Dafa practitioners who risked their lives to tell them the truth.
I smiled, and kindly started a conversation with him. I didn't rush into the details about Falun Gong, but eventually told him about the preciousness of Falun Dafa, and how Dafa has become popular around the world, as well as the persecution.
He quit the Party, and cordially thanked me. I was happy because a being who had been deeply deceived by the CCP’s lies finally saw the light.
I was having a nice conversation with a farmer once, and she told me that she was a Christian. However, her attitude changed when I asked if she wanted to quit the Party for her protection. She became angry, and said: “If you practice Falun Gong you are against the CCP, and should be arrested.”
I asked Master to protect me, and told her calmly, “You said that you believe in God, yet you want us arrested. Where is your compassion?” The woman didn't say anything in reply.
I heard an old man slandering Falun Dafa to a group of people waiting at the bus stop. He said he was a retired military cadre. I felt sorry for him for supporting the CCP.
I wanted him, and those waiting for the bus, to have a bright future, so I went over to speak to them.
The man immediately tried to stop me from speaking about Dafa. I told him calmly: “I overheard you mention that you are a retired military cadre. You must be a very capable person, and know how to reason. You said many bad things about Falun Dafa. I waited until you finished talking before I began to clarify things a little. However, as soon as I start you try to stop me. It seems a little unreasonable.”
He gave in, and let me talk.
I started to tell them about Falun Dafa, the persecution, and about the Global Tuidang Center, where millions of people have quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
When I had finished clarifying the facts, I turned to the man, and said, “I do not blame you, since you did not know the truth.”
He smiled and apologized, saying, “I was wrong. I will not speak irresponsibly in the future.”
Everyone smiled. Then another person told me quietly that he wanted to quit the Youth League and Young Pioneers (two of the CCP's organizations).
When I met the retired cadre again, he also quit the Party.
Overcoming Fear by Being Compassionate
In the past I was hesitant in clarifying the facts in public due to my fear, but I didn't have any fear during these encounters.
Now I understand. It is because at that moment I felt compassion in my heart for those people.
Master said,
“When you encounter a tribulation, that great compassion will help you overcome it.” (Chapter III, Falun Gong)
Fa-rectification is at the final stage. I should treat everyone with compassion, and fulfill my responsibility as a Falun Dafa practitioner.
