(Minghui.org) Two days ago, another Falun Dafa practitioner told me the story of Zhang, who had recovered from the coronavirus.

Facing the Coronavirus

Zhang had been in Wuhan, Hubei Province, before the Chinese New Year. Upon arriving there, he found that the coronavirus epidemic was already at a very serious stage. Within several days, one heard that the city would be shut down, and it was already very difficult to get out.

“Staying here means death,” thought Zhang, “Leaving here may mean death too—but at least better than being trapped and dying here.”

He managed to flee to a nearby city. However, after his arrival, he heard that this city would be shut down too. Without stopping, he went on to another province, and, after many detours returned to his own city. Fearing that he might have been infected by the virus, he decided to stay in isolation for a while instead of going home.

“If there are no problems within 14 days means that I am fine,” he thought.

On the 14th day, however, he had the symptoms of coronavirus infection including fever, cough, and chest pain. From his bed, he called the 120 medical emergency hotline (similar to 911 in the United States). One hospital first agreed to dispatch an emergency vehicle to pick him up, but later changed their mind and recommended that he contact an infectious disease hospital. Upon calling this hospital, he was told a pickup could not be arranged, and it was suggested that he go to another suburban hospital. During these phone calls, the medical staff was sympathetic, but no one could offer help.

By then, he knew that no hospital would send an emergency vehicle to rescue him. Given his condition, he could not go to a hospital by himself either. The feeling of being abandoned left him in despair. After suffering so much when fleeing from the epidemic, he had felt lucky to survive. But now, nobody was able or willing to help him no matter how hard he tried.

Terrified in panic, he called home and said to his seven-year-old son, “Daddy is sick and I may not see you again.”

When All Hope Seemed Lost, Remembering Falun Dafa

Zhang’s son, wife, and mother-in-law are all Falun Dafa practitioners. Unable to come and stay with him, they were also worried and kept encouraging him.

His son repeatedly said, “Dad, please recite ‘Falun Dafa is good’ and ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ Promise me you would do that, okay?”

At that moment, Zhang remembered Falun Dafa and assured his son he would recite the two sentences. From his family, he knew the practice is well accepted in over 100 countries. Countless examples have shown that when faced with such an emergency or disasters, reciting the phrases his son said had really saved people. Yes, it really works. Thus, he saw hope.

The entire family had a difficult, long night. The family received his phone call again. The fever was gone, but he was soaked in sweat. “I am still weak, and cannot get up,” Zhang said, “But, I am okay now. Please don’t worry about me.”

Everyone in the family was thrilled. His mother-in-law shed tears of joy.

Embracing the Falun Dafa Principles

The practitioner who told me the story said that Zhang had learned the facts of Dafa several years ago. Upon hearing how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) harmed innocent people, including Falun Dafa practitioners, he also quit organizations related to the CCP.

When suffering systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) for a long time without hope, he also began to read Zhuan Falun and recovered from his illness.

Having been brainwashed by the CCP for a long time, however, he did not really believe in Dafa and even made some negative remarks. Furthermore, he claimed it was medicine that cured his SLE, and his previous statement of renouncing the CCP organizations did not count.

When facing this real danger, Zhang finally awakened. He realized that when one truly believes in Dafa and embraces the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he or she would receive blessings and be saved.

Zhang is sincerely grateful that Falun Dafa has given him again a second life.
