(Minghui.org) Talking to the people who carry out the persecution and clarifying the facts to them are actually acts of compassion. I’d like to tell you about three of of my experiences while doing this not long after the persecution started.
Talking to the Director of the Political and Security Division
We learned that the police were planning to take action against practitioners in July 1999. The assistant for the local Falun Dafa practice site asked if I could talk to the director of the political and security division of the city police department. This man was in charge of the persecution of the tens of thousands of practitioners in our area. I gladly agreed, hoping to reduce the severity of the persecution by telling the director the facts about Dafa.
I managed to contact him through my colleagues—which actually seemed to be Master’s arrangement. I told him how Falun Dafa improves one’s health, elevates one’s morals, and benefits society. I told him about some of the experiences that leaders, intellectuals, and successful businessmen in our city had after they began practicing.
He listened quietly and then said, “I know that Falun Dafa is good. But what can you do if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang Zemin (the CCP head at that time) want to suppress it?”
He told me, “You are very talented, having earned your position at such a young age. You might lose everything if you don’t give up the practice when the persecution begins. I feel sorry for you. As far as I know, the campaign will be intense. The CCP has even activated the army and the armed police. Those practitioners who do not give up may be taken to forced labor camps in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.”
I said, “I will not give up Falun Dafa. It has brought me so many positive things. I will be steadfast even if it means I lose my future. I hope you will be kind to practitioners when the persecution begins. It is sinful to persecute them.” He nodded and said he would do his best.
I felt the Falun turning faster in me when I talked with the director. I believe that Master was reinforcing me since I did the right thing and perhaps reduced the harm practitioners would be subjected to.
Talking to the Head of the Education Department
One day a fellow practitioner who was a school principal told me that the city education department was going to start a campaign to defame Dafa in all the schools in the city, elementary through secondary, the following month. He hoped that I could talk to someone to stop it.
It just so happened that the person in charge of the education department used to work for one of my relatives. That made it easier for me to talk to him.
I went to his office the next day and told him that I hoped he would cancel the campaign, since it would be harmful to the students, schools, and himself.
He appeared nervous, even somewhat scared. He stuttered, “We just had the idea and have not started it yet. How do you already know about it?”
They had kept the campaign a secret. He could not understand how I had learned about it. He was surprised that, as a practitioner, I dared to come to his office and talk to him. He thought it took courage. My righteous action suppressed the negative elements and even frightened him. He politely walked me to the door. They later canceled the activity.
Talking to the Head of the Broadcast and Television Bureau
Our local TV station began broadcasting programs that defamed Dafa. The coordinator asked if I could talk to the head of the city broadcast and television bureau.
He happened to be a good friend of mine. I contributed the most money when he got married and he was always grateful. I realized that everything was arranged for Fa-rectification. Everyone I knew had a predestined relationship with me and Dafa.
I visited him immediately. He seemed to know why I was there, and as soon as I walked in he asked if I was there for the TV broadcast. I appreciated his directness and said, “Yes, that is why I came. You know that the programs they are showing are all fabricated. Why do you let them do it? Aren’t you harming people?”
He said, “The broadcast and television bureau is the mouthpiece of the CCP. We have no choice but to do what they tell us to. We don’t want to, but we dare not do otherwise.” I said, “But you don’t need to be pro-active about it. You can just talk about it but not implement it.” He said, “I know what you mean. We will stop the show after tomorrow.”
While we chatted, he said that he respected Falun Dafa practitioners and was unhappy with the CCP. I wrote a letter afterward to clarify the facts about the broadcast, and distributed it to people in our area. In the meantime, the TV station stopped its broadcast.
