(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yang Xuewen and Three Other Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Yang Xuewen (71 years old), Ms. Li Yali (about 60 years old), Ms. Zhang Kuihua (74 years old), and Ms. Zhang’s daughter Ms. Zhang Guorong (54 years old), from Wuzhan Town, Zhaodong City, were arrested by officers from Wuzhan Town Police Station for distributing information about Falun Gong. They were tried twice by Anda City Court on November 18, 2019 and on December 26, 2019.

Mr. Yang and Ms. Li were each given a two-year-and-six-month prison term, and each were fined 20,000 yuan. Ms. Zhang and her daughter were each given a two-year prison term, and each were fined 10,000 yuan. The four practitioners have appealed.

2. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Zhenxiu Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Gao Zhenxiu, a teacher at Lijin County No. 2 Middle School, was reported to Li Xinmin, principal of the school, by a student’s parent for talking to students about Falun Gong in April 2019. Li forcibly took Ms. Gao to the county police department. Later, Ms. Gao was given a one-year prison term, and is being held in Jinan Women’s Prison.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Ren Yan Held in Detention Center

Mr. Ren Yan, a teacher at Jilin University of Finance and Economics, was arrested at home at the end of July 2019. He was taken to the Changchun Police Department’s No. 4 Detention Center.

4. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Mr. Xu Guodong Given a Three-Year Prison Term

Mr. Xu Guodong was arrested by officers from the Beishichang Police Station on April 28, 2019. He was given a three-year prison term by Tiedong District Court in October 2019, and was taken to Jilin Prison in November.

5. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Xiaolan Arrested

Ms. Xu Xiaolan was arrested at home by officers from the Gaomi City Police Department on the morning of January 9, 2020.

6. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhou Ping and Daughter Ms. Shen Mengting Held in Detention Center

Ms. Zhou Ping and her daughter Ms. Shen Mengting were arrested by officers from Wanghucheng Police Station, Baohe District, on the evening of January 7, 2020. The officers ransacked their home and confiscated Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and cash. Both practitioners are being held in a detention center.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Song Yucen’s Case Turned over to Court

Ms. Song Yucen’s case was turned over to Heping District Court at the end of December 2019.

Ms. Duan Lianying from Xincheng District was arrested by officers from Hongshan District Police Station on December 12, 2019. She is being held in Songshan District Detention Center.

10. [Shanghai] Ms. Cai Yufang Faces Trial

Ms. Cai Yufang from Minhang District was arrested on September 3, 2019. She will be tried by Pujiang No. 2 Court, Minhang District, on the morning of January 15, 2020.

Mr. Chen Xingbo was arrested by officers from Qiaoxi District Domestic Security Division on the morning of November 24, 2019. He was held in Xingtai City No. 1 Detention Center. His case was recently turned over to the Qiaodong District Procuratorate.
