(Minghui.org) A Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia woman was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Yulan's appeal was recently rejected by Chifeng City Intermediate Court and she has been secretly transferred to Hohhot Women's Prison.
Ms. Li was arrested on December 25, 2017 while walking on the street. An officer approached her and searched her bag. Upon finding that she had Falun Gong related materials in her bag, they stuffed more materials, which didn't belong to her, into her hands and took videos of her, accusing her of distributing a large amount of Falun Gong informational materials.
She struggled with the police and resisted the arrest for more than ten minutes before being dragged into the police car.
The prosecutor alleged during her hearing on December 19, 2018, that she tossed Falun Gong materials into people's yards and posted information on the telephone poles. Ms. Li denied all the allegations.
This isn't the first time that Ms. Li has been targeted for her faith. She was given three years of forced labor in October 2000 and served time at Tumuji Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Li was arrested again in December 2005 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The authorities fed her with unknown drugs before releasing her.
She was forced to live away from home to avoid persecution, but was arrested again July 2007. She was sentenced to six years in Heizuizi Prison.
