(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Xiuping and Ms. Zhai Jinping from Taian City, Shandong Province were arrested on December 26, 2018, when they distributed calendars which had information about Falun Gong. The Taishan District court tried them on April 30, 2019. Ms. Wang was later sentenced to four years’ imprisonment while Ms. Zhai was given one-year. Ms. Wang has filed an appeal.
Ms. Wang Xiuping, 55, a former teacher at the Affiliated School of Shandong Agricultural University, was sentenced to a labor camp for one year, and sentenced to prison twice for a total of six years for her steadfast belief in Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhai Jinping, 54, is a physician of internal medicine who works at the Taishan Sanatorium. She was sentenced to labor camps twice for a total of six years for her belief in Falun Gong.
Both practitioners were arrested at the Tai'an City Bus Station when officers from the Zhanqian Police Station found information about Falun Gong in their bags on the morning of December 26, 2018. Li Xiaoming, deputy head of the Taishan Domestic Security Division, and Tian Lin, a 610 Office squadron leader ransacked their homes. Both practitioners are being held in the Tai'an City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhai’s 75-year-old mother went to visit Tian Lin many times to request her release. Tian deceived her and said that Ms. Zhai would be released after being detained for one month. Actually, they had submitted her case to the procuratorate.
The Taian District Court tried the two practitioners on April 30, 2019. There was no decision announced. The court personnel later went to the detention center and announced the sentence.
The two practitioners are still being held in Taian Detention Center.
