Falun Dafa Practitioners Given Lengthy Prison Sentences for Following Their Faith

(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhao Yuhai from Xinyang City, Henan Province, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan on June 14, 2019. He was previously sentenced to seven years in prison in 2004.

Mr. Zhao, formerly an employee of the Xinyang Chemical Plant, was born in 1974. He makes a living repairing computers and printers. He is known for his honest and reliable nature and for getting along well with his neighbors.

Around 5:00 p.m. on October 19, 2018, officers from the Huangchuan County Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Zhao and ransacked his home. He was taken to the Huangchuan County Detention Center. Dong, a Domestic Security officer, was in charge of the case.

Mr. Zhao was tried by the Huangchuan County Court on the afternoon of April 15, 2019. His lawyer entered a not-guilty plea.

The court later sentenced Mr. Zhao to 10 years in prison, on June 14, 2019. Mr. Zhao was reported to be in poor health, and at one point, his blood pressure was as high as 280.

Mr. Shi Zaihe, 48, was given a 5-year prison term and fined 20,000 yuan by the court on December 13, 2018. Minghui reported the sentencing at the time (二零一九年一月二十八日大陆综合消息).

On October 1, 2000, Mr. Shi went to Tiananmen Square to speak out on behalf of Falun Dafa, and he was beaten by the police in the square. He was held in custody for approximately two months, and when released, he became displaced to avoid further harassment.

In May 2005, Mr. Shi wrote a solemn statement declaring that he would persevere in practicing Falun Dafa. As a result, prison guards dragged him back and forth on the floor, hit him with a shovel, and shocked him with electric batons.

Mr. Shi became displaced again when his wife was arrested in August 2015, after they both filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, former head of the CCP, for launching the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999. Mr. Shi was arrested on March 29, 2018.
