London: Rally and Forum Held in Parliament to Mark the Twentieth Anniversary of the Persecution
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally on July 16 2019, in front of the UK Parliament to mark the 20 years of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They also held a forum inside the parliament building to inform people of the brutality of CCP’s brutal persecution, especially the state-sanctioned live organ harvesting. They called on the British government and the international community to help stop the persecution.
Members of Parliament Condemn the Persecution
Lord Hylton of the House of Lords has been supportive of practitioners' efforts for years. He attended the rally and signed the petition to protest the persecution. He said that it was important to let the public know about Falun Gong and that he hoped the persecution would end soon.
Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Grady of Glasgow North attended the rally. He said that many MP's work together to promote freedom of belief, especially the freedom of Falun Gong practitioners. He initiated the early day motion “Practice of Falun Gong and the Campaign against Organ Harvesting.”
Marie Rimmer MP came to the rally and condemned the CCP’s persecution. She felt that the UK government should take immediate action to stop these human rights violations. She pointed out that the UK government should ban citizens from traveling to China for organ transplants, like other countries have done.
MP's Send Letters Supporting Falun Gong Practitioners’ Efforts Against the Persecution
In her letter, Ruth Lister, The Baroness Lister of Burtersett CBE, stated that she would continue to support Falun Gong practitioners' efforts.
Caroline Lucas MP for Brighton Pavilion condemned the CCP’s persecution and asked the UK government to take more action against the CCP’s live organ harvesting.
In his letter, Ian Murray MP called on the international community to work together to stop the CCP’s brutal persecution and live organ harvesting. Chris Stephens MP stated that he would stand with Falun Gong practitioners and continue to urge the UK government to take action to stop the CCP’s live organ harvesting.
Forum in the UK Parliament
Jim Shannon MP hosted a forum on the evening of July 16 that was open to public. Falun Gong practitioners who were subjected to the persecution in China talked about their experiences. Members of The China Tribunal introduced the verdict.
In the forum, Caroline from the British Falun Dafa Association spoke first and introduced Falun Gong and the CCP’s persecution. She also summarized the international efforts against the CCP’s live organ harvesting, including legislation in Israel, Italy, Spain, Taiwan, Canada, the U.S., Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and the European Parliament. She called on the British Government to take action to stop the CCP’s brutality.
Several members of The China Tribunal were invited to speak during the forum. Prof. Martin Elliott introduced the initial intention of the tribunal, hearing process and final verdict.
He said that the CCP’s organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience has gone on for 20 years. The number of victims is huge. Falun Gong practitioners are likely the major source of the live organ harvesting, and that the CCP’s cruelty surpasses the tortures perpetrated throughout the past century.
During the forum, three young Falun Gong practitioners Yang, Feng and Tang talked about the persecution that they and their family members have suffered in the past 20 years. Feng said that the CCP persecuted nine of her family, including her parents, who were detained and imprisoned multiple times.
The three practitioners also described how the CCP has continued to harass them after they left China, at work and in their studies abroad. This harassment outside of China indicates that the CCP is extending the persecution to other countries. They called on kindhearted people to work together to end it.
Public Supports Falun Gong
During the event, many people stopped to talk to practitioners and signed the petition against the persecution. Several were tourists from other countries.
Rose, a teacher from London, said that the CCP’s persecution was completely wrong and that the live organ harvesting was horrible. She praised Falun Gong's guiding principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and said, “I think everyone needs them.”
