Once Imprisoned for Seven Years, Henan Man Sentenced to Ten Years for His Faith
(Minghui.org) A Xinyang City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to ten years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan on June 14, 2019 for not renouncing his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Zhao, 45, a computer technician, was arrested on October 19, 2018. The police ransacked his home and sent him to Huangchuan County Detention Center.
Mr. Zhao appeared in Huangchuan County Court on April 15, 2019. His lawyer entered a not guilty plea for him. The judge announced the heavy prison term two months later.
It was reported that Mr. Zhao developed high blood pressure due to both physical and mental abuse in the detention center.
Prior to his latest prison term, Mr. Zhao was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2004 for his faith.
