Additional Persecution News from China – March 20, 2019 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Jiang Xiyong Detained

Ms. Jiang Xiyong, associate professor at the School of Political Thought of Zhongnan Nationalities University, was arrested in November 2018 for talking to students about the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been detained since then.

2. [Hunchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xiuzhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiuzhen was arrested at home on March 17, 2019.

3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Bilin Facing Trial

Ms. Wu Bilin is scheduled be tried by the Hanyang District Court on March 29, 2019.

4. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Li Zifang and Ms. Li Zixia Detained

Ms. Li Zifang and Ms. Li Zixia were arrested by officers from the Fuyang Railway Police Station on February 19, 2019, for possessing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were detained for 15 days, before being transferred to the Fuyang City Detention Center.

5. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yingcai and Ms. Nan Bingyu Arrested

Ms. Liu Yingcai and Ms. Nan Bingyu were arrested by officers from the Huining Police Station on March 18, 2019, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Nan was released later that day, while Ms. Liu was kept in custody at the police station.

6. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Shumin Tried

Ms. Zhang Shumin was arrested on November 7, 2018, when she was talking to plainclothes officers about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Wenchang Police Station.

Ms. Zhang was taken to the Laizhou Detention Center for 15 days, and then transferred to the Yantai Detention Center on November 22.

Ms. Zhang was tried by the Laizhou Court on March 19, 2019.

7. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Duan Tianjun Detained

Mr. Duan Tianjun was arrested in early March 2019, and taken to a detention center.

8. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chu Yunlan Arrested

Ms. Chu Yunlan was arrested on March 16, 2019, and taken to the Xinchunxiaoqu Police Station. She was released later that afternoon.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced

Ms. Su Guihua, Mr. Yu Xianrong, and Mr. Lu Yonghua were tried at the Jimou No. 2 Detention Center by the Shibei District Court on March 19, 2019.

Ms. Su was sentenced to a nine-year prison term and fined 30,000 yuan. The sentence will be served outside of prison due to her failure to pass the prison's physical examination.

Mr. Yu was sentenced to a six-year prison term and fined 20,000 yuan.

Mr. Lu was sentenced to a four-and-a-half-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan.

10. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Seven Practitioners Facing Trial

Seven practitioners are scheduled to be tried by Anda City Court on March 28, 2019. They are Ms. Gao Jinshu, Ms. Yang Chuanhou, Mr. Song Hongwei, Ms. Wang Fang, Mr. Wang Fuhua, Ms. Bai Xia, and Ms. Zhao Tingting.

11. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Jihong Tried

Ms. Zhang Jihong was arrested on March 16, 2019, and held in the Wanyaoshu Detention Center. She was tried by the Dong District Court on March 26.
