(Minghui.org) A local court in Fushun City, Liaoning Province has refused to accept the case of a Falun Gong practitioner and is requesting the local higher court to re-assign it to another court.

Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is a traditional mind-body cultivation practice that has been persecuted in China since 1999.

After Ms. Jia Naizhi’s case was submitted to the Dongzhou District Court in September 2019, her lawyer and family went to the court several times to inquire about the status of the case. A staff member told the lawyer that Ms. Jia's case had been sent to the president of the court, but he hadn't assigned it to any judge.

Ms. Jia’s family recently learned that the Dongzhou District Court had returned her case to the Fushun City Intermediate Court. The president of the Dongzhou District Court is asking the higher court to re-assign it, because Ms. Jia doesn’t live in Dongzhou District, but Shuncheng District.

Ms. Jia’s family said that from their interactions with the court staff, they felt that more and more judges have come to understand the facts about Falun Gong and some no longer want to accept or prosecute Falun Gong cases.

Ms. Jia, 70, was arrested on April 18, 2019 and has since been held at the Fushun Detention Center.

Because of refusing to give up her faith, she has been arrested eight times and incarcerated for 12 years.
