(Minghui.org) A 67-year-old woman in Luzhou City was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

Her family has filed complaints against the officials responsible for the wrongful sentence.

Ms. Wu Derong was arrested on September 18, 2017 after the police cut off her electricity and deceived her into opening the door to check out the sudden power outage. She was placed under criminal detention and kept at Naxi Detention Center. The Procuratorate approved her arrest on October 23, 2017.

Naxi District Court held a secret hearing for her on March 13, 2018 and sentenced her to prison on December 4, 2018. Her family didn't learn of the trial until they received a copy of the verdict on December 18.

This isn't the first time that Ms. Wu has been persecuted for her faith. She was arrested in January 2001 and detained for two years and eight months in a brainwashing center. Her second arrest in March 2004 was followed by one year and three months of detention at a forced labor camp. When she was seized a third time in September 2008, she was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
