Additional Persecution News from China – August 24, 2018 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 27 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Mou Arrested

Ms. Mou, 80, from Hubei Province, was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Yichuan County tourist attraction in Shaanxi Province on the morning of August 22, 2018. She was arrested and taken to a police station.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Yunchuan Arrested

Mr. Sun Yunchuan, from Huangjiatun Village, was arrested by officers from the Ligezhuang Town Police Station, as ordered by the Jiaozhou Court in Qingdao City on August 22, 2018.

3. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Qi Min, Mr. Li Zhenyang, Ms. Yuan, Ms. Wen Li, family members of Ms. Han Aizhen, and her lawyer were arrested by the Chaoyang City police on the afternoon of August 22, 2018, and taken to the Guangming Police Department.

Ms. Han's family members were released later that day.

4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qiao Chenglin Detained

Mr. Qiao Chenglin from the Zhangqiu District was arrested at his home by officers from the Shuangshan Police Station on the morning of August 21, 2018. He was taken to the Zhonggong Detention Center.

5. [Guang'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Peng Shiqiong Tried for Second Time

Ms. Peng Shiqiong from Huaying City was arrested on May 9, 2017, and taken to the Guang'an City Detention Center. She was sentenced to a three-year prison term by the Guang'an District Court on November 15, 2017.

Ms. Peng appealed, and the second trial was held on August 27, 2018.

6. [Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Huang Lianfang, Ms. Su Qiuju, Ms. Hu Lanying, and Ms. Yuan Linghua were arrested on July 16, 2018. They were taken to the Fenyi County Detention Center.

Ms. Huang was later transferred to the Xinyu City Detention Center, while the other three practitioners were released on August 7.

7. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Kang Hongying Officially Arrested

Ms. Kang Hongying, 66, from the Qinhuangdao City No. 3540 Factory Residential Community, was reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong materials on the evening of August 6, 2018. She was arrested by the director of the Baitaling Police Station Chen Fei, and other officers.

Ms. Kang was taken to the Qinhuangdao Detention Center, and officially arrested on August 20.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Luo Caisen and Ms. Jing Dengqin Detained

Ms. Luo Caisen, 60, and Ms. Jing Dengqin, 50, from Yanshou County, were arrested by Li Zhiguo, the head of the Shangzhi City Domestic Security Division, and other officers on August 13, 2018.

Both practitioners were taken to the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.

Mr. Zhao Changfu, his wife Ms. Sun Guangli, and Ms. Li Yingzhi, from Lingyuan City, were arrested by officers from the Lingyuan SWAT Team on the afternoon of August 22, 2018.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Lin Xianchen Detained

Mr. Lin Xianchen, from Qingyang Village, Weizigou Town in the Jiutai District, was arrested by officers from the Weizigou Police Station on the morning of August 22, 2018. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated a printer, computer, and Falun Gong books.

Mr. Lin was taken to the Jiutai Detention Center.

11. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Fu Wencheng, Ms. Zhao Yazhen, Ms. Mou Yanping, Ms. Sun Furong, and Ms. Sun's daughter, from the Bayuquan District, were arrested on the morning of August 23, 2018.

12. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Yushen Taken to Prison

Ms. Wang Yushen, from Shengfang Town, Bazhou City, was arrested by officers from the Hedong Police Station on August 18, 2017. She was tried in the Bazhou Court on the morning of March 30, 2018.

Ms. Wang was sentenced to a two-year prison term, and taken to the No. 3 Ward of the Jidong Police Department's No. 4 Prison.

13. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Cuihong and Ms. Tian Lili Arrested with Their Husbands

Ms. Li Cuihong and her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, from Jiangjun Street in the Shuncheng District, were arrested at the mechanical processing plant they operated on the afternoon of August 23, 2018. Their home was ransacked. They were taken to the Jiangjun Police Station.

Ms. Tian Lili and her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, from the Wanghua District, were arrested at work around the same time. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Tian was taken to Shenyang City.

14. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Li Shuhua and Ms. Song Arrested

Ms. Song was arrested by the Hongshan District police on the morning of August 22, 2018.

Ms. Li Shuhua was arrested later. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her personal belongings.

15. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Shang's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Chen Shang, from Baoshan Town, Fengcheng City, was arrested on August 21, 2008. She was sentenced to a ten-year prison term, and taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison.

Ms. Chen was released on August 22, 2018, but her family did not see her. Her whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Arrested

Ms. Chen, 81, from the Chaoyang Heavy Machinery Factory family quarters, was arrested by officers from the Qianjin Police Station in the Shuangta District, on August 23, 2018. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong materials.

17. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Hongzhu Arrested

Mr. Wang Hongzhu was arrested at work on the evening of August 22, 2018.

18. [Beijing] Ms. Xu Rong Released on Bail

Ms. Xu Rong, 53, an associate professor at Beijing Political and Law Vocational College, was arrested by Dong Feng, an official from the college's security division, in July 2018, for giving out Falun Gong informational to other teachers. She was taken to the Jinxing Township Police Station in the Daxing District.

Ms. Xu was transferred to the Daxing Detention Center, and released on bail on August 13.

19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Xiaoxiong Detained

Mr. Liu Xiaoxiong was arrested by officers from the Qixianling Police Station on July 25, 2018. He was taken to the Dalian City Detention Center.

Mr. Zhou Mingtie, from Fangshendi Village, Gangyaoling Town in the Nanpiao District, was arrested by officers from the SWAT Team and the local police station on the morning of August 23, 2018. His home was ransacked.

21. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wei Wenying Sentenced to a Five-Year Prison Term

Ms. Wei Wenying was sentenced to a five-year prison term, fined 10,000 yuan, and forced to pay an additional 20,000 yuan. She was taken to the Jinan Women's Prison on August 9, 2018.

22. [Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Song Laiping's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Song Laiping, 60, from Yanchi County, was arrested by officers from the Yanchi County Domestic Security Division and Huamachi Police Station in mid-April 2018. He was taken to the Yanchi County Detention Center.

Mr. Song displayed stroke symptoms when he had a physical examination, so the detention center refused to accept him. He was released on bail.

Mr. Song was arrested again on the afternoon of August 19. His whereabouts are unknown.
