Additional Persecution News from China – August 9, 2018 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 20 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 6 were illegally arrested.

1. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yawei Detention Extended

Ms. Zhang Yawei, from Shaling Town, was scheduled to be released from detention on August 8, 2018. Instead, she was transferred to the Panshan County Detention Center by the Panshan County Domestic Security Division.

2. [Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yaqin Detained

Ms. Liu Yaqin, arrested in Hebei Province, was taken to the Hegang City Detention Center, Heilongjiang Province.

3. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Mengjie Taken to Prison

Mr. Zhang Mengjie was tried by the Xingtai City Intermediate Court on May 2, 2018. His five-year prison term was reduced to three years. He was taken to the No. 3 Ward, Tangshan No. 7 Prison on June 4.

4. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zhang Jing Detained

Ms. Zhang Jing was taken to the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center.

5. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Tong Guifen Detained

Ms. Tong Guifen from Dangyang City was arrested at the train station at the end of October 2017. Her identification card (ID) card was checked at the entrance, which identified her as a Falun Gong practitioner. She was arrested, and taken to the Yichang City Detention Center.

6. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Liu Guirong Faces Trial

Ms. Liu Guirong from Lingqiu County was tried by the Yungang District Court on August 10, 2018.

Ms. Liu was arrested by officers from the Lingqiu County Domestic Security Division on February 4, 2018. She was taken to the Datong City Detention Center.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Chunzhen and Ms. Wang Xinli Arrested

Ms. Chen Chunzhen and Ms. Wang Xinli were reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from the Guannan Police Station on the evening of August 5, 2018. Both practitioners were taken to the Erzhigou Detention Center. The detention center refused to admit Ms. Chen because of high blood pressure. She was released the next afternoon. Ms. Wang was held for 15 days.

8. [Nanning City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Hu Cun Detained

Mr. Hu Cun, 56, was reported and arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in a residential community on the afternoon of March 20, 2018. The police ransacked his home and confiscated two printers and Falun Gong materials. Mr. Hu was taken to the Nanning City Detention Center. No family visits are allowed.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Huimin Arrested

Ms. Chen Huimin from Dehui City was arrested by officers from the Dafangshen Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong on August 5, 2018. Her home was ransacked.

10. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Several practitioners from the Shengli Oilfield were arrested at Mr. Han Jun's home by plainclothes officers on the afternoon of August 8, 2018. The officers ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, several printers, and computers.

11. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Tan Guohui Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Tan Guohui from Aohan Banner was given a one-year-and-five-month prison term by the Aohan Banner Court on the afternoon of June 29, 2018. He was put on home detention because of high blood pressure.

12. [Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province] Cases of Mr. Yu Rongxin and Wife Ms. Xie Qing Delivered to Court

Mr. Yu Rongxin and his wife Ms. Xie Qing were arrested on September 18, 2017. They were taken to the Jiangmen City Detention Center. Their cases were turned over to the Jiangmen Procuratorate on June 28, 2018, and then to the Pengjiang District Court on July 31.

13. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lai Yonghua and Ms. Huang Yongcui Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Lai Yonghua and Ms. Huang Yongcui, from Ju County, were arrested on January 20, 2018. Ms. Lai was given a one-year-and-six-month, and Ms. Huang a two-year prison term on July 31.

14. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Shen Liqing Faces Second Trial

Ms. Shen Liqing will be tried a second time at the Dongbian Court on August 13, 2018.

15. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yuan Xiuqiong Detained

Ms. Yuan Xiuqiong from Xinnan Street was arrested at home by officers from the Jiahe Police Station at noon on June 6, 2018. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, a computer, a printer, a DVD burner, a cell phone, DVDs, and several hundred yuan. She was taken to the Yongxing Detention Center.

16. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Eight Practitioners' Cases Turned Over to Wulian County Procuratorate

Ms. Gong Hua and seven other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Donggang District Domestic Security Division between February 2 and February 3, 2018. Five practitioners were released on bail after being held in custody for 37 days. Ms. Gong, Ms. Sun Ping, and Ms. Qu Zhengrong were officially arrested, and are detained at the Rizhao City Detention Center.

The eight practitioners' cases were turned over to the Investigation and Prosecution Section of the Donggang District Procuratorate by the Donggang District Domestic Security Division on July 6, and then to the Prosecution Section of the Wulian County Procuratorate on August 6.
