(Minghui.org) As the head chef at a local high school, I was in charge of ten workers and served up to 1,000 meals a day.
Since my supervisor knew that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, he trusted me with the keys to the dining hall, office, and dormitory.
Every day, I followed the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I was the highest paid employee of all the dining hall staff. Under my supervision, the workers were happy, productive, and seldom ran into conflicts. We provided three meals a day on our 11-hour shift.
Although I enjoyed working for my boss for six years, we didn't always see eye-to-eye on things. For example, I objected to him buying cheap, poor quality pork, and not being open to increasing the employees' salary.
One day, he scolded an employee for a minor infraction, which caused the person to run away in tears. When I asked my boss to refrain from scolding the employees, I could tell that he was no longer pleased with me; so I resigned.
All of the employees wept the evening that I had resigned. One employee angrily shouted, “Let's all strike tomorrow!” I comforted them by saying that since I was a Falun Dafa practitioner, some people with ill intentions will blame me for instigating the strike, thus damaging the reputation of Dafa.
My New Job
I didn't regret resigning from my job, even though I earned a very good salary. Two months later, a fellow practitioner asked me to be the head chef at his counseling school. Although my salary was half of what it used to be, I had fewer chores to do each day.
In addition, I could go to work anytime I wanted, as long as I had provided full meals to all of the teachers and students. I was very happy with this arrangement! Most employees knew that the principal of the school and I are Falun Dafa practitioners.
Some teachers intimated to me that the former chef didn't work very hard and had ongoing conflicts with one teacher who was in charge of calculating the number of meals required each day.
On occasion, the number of meals required would increase, however, the teacher didn't dare ask the chef to prepare any additional meals, due to his hot temper.
I never got upset when similar things happened to me, even though I had to prepare and cook all of the meals, wash the dishes, and clean the floors.
The teachers and students seemed to appreciate me and even regarded me as their elder brother.
When they chatted with me, I took the opportunity to clarify the facts about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa. Thus, many people I talked to renounced their membership in the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
Winning Third Place In a Speech Contest
I also participated in various school activities such as spring tours, group dinners, calligraphy competitions, speech contests, and reading/sharing events. I did that to talk to people about Dafa, raise awareness of the CCP's persecution, and to help people better understand Dafa practitioners.
Most of the teachers in the school held college degrees, while I only had a middle-school education. However, since Dafa is a higher science, it enables me to have a very broad understanding of life and the universe.
For example, the school once held a speech contest in which different teachers gave oral presentations based on the subject matter that they had previously compiled. I also gave an oral presentation, however, it was not scripted in any way. I chose the topic: "What principles should we use to guide our lives?”
The teachers in the audience were stunned at the content of my speech, and by the fact that I had delivered it without referring to any notes. The subject matter was obviously beyond their normal realm of thinking. Everyone warmly applauded when I was done. I was later awarded third place in the competition.
Learning to Repair Printers and Copiers
Since I had lots of free time as the school chef, I decided to learn how to repair printers and copiers. Within one week, I became very proficient at it, as Dafa provides me with immense wisdom.
Shortly after, I began to repair printers for free. People were surprised to learn that I had only been training for one week. Thus, they began to call me, “All-around big brother.”
Then, the school supervisor hired me to become the printer/copier purchase and maintenance manager.
The vendors I spoke to told me that I was a good person, thus they provided me with below-market prices for consumables, saving the school lots of money each month.
Becoming an Uber Driver
When my in-law's home was torn down to make room for a new building complex, the construction company amply compensated them. My in-laws gave me some of the money that they had received and told me to buy myself a car.
So I bought an SUV for 140,000 yuan (about $21,000 USD). However, my salary was only 3,000 yuan ($452 USD) a month, so it was difficult for me to properly maintain the car.
Then, a friend suggested that I become an Uber driver. The income from this job was enough to cover the maintenance of my vehicle.
Since it is 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the school to my home, I use the Uber software to take passengers to and from work.
I seem to have the type of character and positive attitude that makes it easy for people to chat with me. Thus, I use this opportunity to talk to people about Falun Dafa. Every time I pick up a passenger, I chat with him or her, explaining my understanding of life, money, material things, virtue, and character.
One day a passenger told me, “I learned a lot from you today!” Whenever someone praises me, I proudly tell them that I practice Falun Dafa. I then introduce them to the practice and persuade them to quit their membership in the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
When a passenger gives me a destination address, the Uber software automatically calculates the fare. However, when I arrive at some passengers' destination, they inform me that their home is several kilometers away. Instead of complaining, I drive them right to their door, without asking them for any additional fare.
Other passengers change their destination completely, but I never charge them extra to take them to their new destination.
Many passengers say that my view of the world is very unique and that I am very intelligent. Of course, all of this is made possible by practicing Falun Dafa.
The knowledge that Dafa gives me goes way beyond the human world; it is truly extraordinary and profound!
