(Minghui.org) A Huangchuan County resident was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and fined 1,000 yuan for distributing materials exposing the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Liu Zhenfang, a 59-year-old hairdresser, was arrested on March 3, 2017 and sentenced to prison on December 20. Judge Xiao Yanru of Huangchuan County Court presided over her trial, with the assistance of his clerks Dong Fei, Yang Xueying and Peng Wenli.

Ms. Liu’s family wasn’t informed of her conviction until February 12, 2018.

This is not the first time that Ms. Liu has been targeted for her faith. Her latest arrest was preceded by multiple prior arrests. Her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, was detained for 15 days in November 2003 when police failed to catch her.

Police came at her again on February 2, 2004 and arrested her and her husband. She was brutally beaten during interrogation. She appeared in court on April 26, 2004 and was sentenced to five years in prison soon afterwards.
