Chinatown, Philadelphia: Falun Gong Calls for Help in Stopping Persecution
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Philadelphia held an activity in Chinatown on Saturday, August 12, 2017, to tell passersby about the ancient Chinese self-improving practice and expose the persecution of the practice in China.
The peaceful practice has been suppressed in China for 18 years.
Ms. Guo from Anhui province, China, witnessed the persecution with her own experiences.
She has been arrested and imprisoned seven times because of her belief in Falun Gong. She was jailed in a mental hospital for 22 days in 2000 and was injected with drugs that may damage the nervous system. Her family was also harassed by local police.
Many Chinese people stopped and talked with practitioners.
One Chinese student kept repeating the propaganda he had heard from the Communist Party. A practitioner then told him about her own experiences. The student then started to change. He said he had actually read the book Zhuan Falun once (the main book of Falun Gong), and found it different than what the Communist Party told people.
He then asked a few questions. The practitioner told him that a normal society would embrace differing opinions, and only the Communist Party burns the books and blocks all the information channels so that people cannot learn the facts.
The student agreed. They talked amenably for a long time. He thanked the practitioner for the information and said he would learn more about Falun Gong.
Practitioner Ms. Yu said, “I am glad that more and more Chinese nowadays know the truth. Today, a dozen Chinese people quit the Party with our help.”
Practitioners also collected signatures on a petition condemning the persecution. Their call was warmly echoed by passersby.
Chris and his wife had never heard of Falun Gong. They were shocked by the news of the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China. They both signed the petition and were interested in learning the exercises at the Liberty Bell exercise site the following morning.
