Woman, 74, Sentenced to Prison and Denied Family Visits
(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old woman was sentenced to one year in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Wu Yingwen was arrested on July 2, 2016, and had her home ransacked. Three male officers forced her to squat on the concrete floor barefoot and showered her with punches and kicks.
She developed symptoms of high blood pressure and was released on medical parole.
The local police kept harassing her at home while she was awaiting trial. She appeared in court on May 9, 2017, and was handed a one-year prison term.
Ms. Wu is now incarcerated in Jilin Prison, suffering from high blood pressure and a heart ailment. Her family is not allowed to visit her.
