(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shi Yunlan, 52, was beaten unconscious at the Huoshui Police Station on October 9, 2014. She was taken to the Wu'an City First Hospital for a craniotomy. The hospital has not provided further needed care because police officials have refused to pay her medical bill of over 200,000 yuan.

Ms. Shi Yunlan

Arrested and Beaten

Ms. Shi Yunlan and another practitioner, Ms. Liu Kaofeng, 60, were arrested for putting up posters about Falun Gong and its persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. They were taken to the Huoshui Police Station in Wu'an and interrogated. Station commander Guo Hongjie and deputy commander Li Xinshao led the proceedings.

The two women were put in separate rooms at the police station.

Ms. Liu was dragged along the floor, and three young policemen took turns beating her. They only stopped after one of Ms. Liu’s front teeth had been knocked out. Her face was badly swollen, and blood was flowing from her mouth.

Guo Hongjie and Li Xinshao then went to the room where Ms. Shi was being held and beat her until she vomited and lost consciousness. They could not revive her, so they took her to a hospital.

Hospitalized for Three Years

Ms. Shi underwent a craniotomy on October 10, 2014, at the Wu'an First Hospital. She was later transferred to the intensive care unit and was due to undergo two more surgeries. She could not talk clearly and was paralyzed.

The Huoshui Police Station initially paid 1,000 yuan for Ms. Shi’s hospital fees, and later paid several hundred yuan more. The police claimed that Ms. Shi had tripped and fallen.

The Wu'an Police Department refused to file an incident report or pay Ms. Shi’s medical expenses. Therefore, Ms. Shi has not received the two additional surgeries she urgently needs, and she is not well enough to be discharged.

Seeking Justice

The World Organization To Investigate The Persecution Of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) released a notice that they are tracking the perpetrators in this case. They are asking for people to come forward with detailed information on the perpetrators.

Ms. Liu and Ms. Shi’s families have also filed a complaint with the Procuratorate, seeking compensation.
