Tian Guo Marching Band Performs in Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade in Portland, Oregon
(Minghui.org) The annual Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade was held in Portland, Oregon on June 10, 2017. Over 100 groups participated in the parade that featured elegant floats, bands, and folk performances.
The Tian Guo Marching Band of over 140 Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) practitioners from San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and Canada participated in the parade.
In Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the band played Triumphant, followed by an encore, Sacred Song, and earned warm applause.
The 4.2-mile parade started at 10 a.m. from Veterans Memorial Coliseum, followed MLK Jr. Boulevard, passed by Burnside Bridge, and terminated at Lincoln High School in downtown. The host organization estimated that about 500,000 people watched the parade on-site or via live television broadcast.
Portland's KPTV covered the parade live. The moderator announced, “Tian Guo Marching Band is quite different from other bands. The band members wear ancient Tang [dynasty] costumes. The character on their dress means 'music.' Very graceful!”
