Recent Falun Gong Events in Europe
(Minghui.org) In the last week of May, Falun Gong practitioners from Europe held multiple events exposing the 18-year-long persecution in China to the general public, and calling for help to bring it to an end.
In Lublin, a Polish town 120 miles from Warsaw, practitioners held a Falun Gong “Information Day” on May 26. Besides demonstrating the exercises, they also collected signatures on a petition to condemn China's state-sanctioned organ harvesting from imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners.
Lublin is a 700-year-old town, and the capital of Lublin Province.
During the event, many people stopped to show support. Besides signing the petition, some passersby also asked about learning the exercises, and some learned them at practitioners' booth.
A local businessman highly praised practitioners for their efforts. He was happy to hear that they have similar activities in Warsaw every week, as he often goes there, and plans to bring chocolates to them to show his support.
A group of Chinese students didn't dare take materials from practitioners for fear of the Chinese government. A practitioner told them: “It is your human right to know what has been going on in your homeland. There is nothing to be afraid of. The Communist Party has tried to brainwash Chinese people and put out a lot of deceitful propaganda about Falun Gong. To cover it up, they have blocked the internet. You are lucky to come overseas, so you should seize this chance to access free information.”
The students were finally convinced and gratefully accepted the materials.
Holland practitioners held events the City of Zaandam on May 30, asking the local government, media, and human rights organization to help rescue a jailed practitioner in China, Ms. Peng Jie.
Peng Jie was arrested in Liaoning Province on July 22, 2016. She was sentenced to three years and six months, and has been jailed in the provincial women's prison. Her daughter, Ms. Zhang, a Holland resident, has been trying to rescue her mother.
At the May 30 events, a radio station and the Northern Netherlands Daily newspaper interviewed Ms. Zhang about her mother's situation.
Besides telling Ms. Peng's story, who was previously arrested in 2002 and tortured for her belief, the newspaper article also introduced the basic principles of Falun Gong to the readers.
Practitioners from St. Petersburg held an event on May 30 in a local park to introduce the exercises and call for help to end the persecution.
During the three-hour event, many people stopped to sign the petition and learn the exercises.
