(Minghui.org) The Dongyuan County Court sentenced Ms. Deng Shi'e, from Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, to a two-year-and-three month prison term on January 20, 2017, for practicing Falun Gong. Her attorney and family members were barred from entering the courtroom.
Ms. Deng appealed the verdict. Due to the illegal trial procedures, the Heyuan City Intermediate Court ruled as following on April 11, 2017:
First, revocation of the verdict of the Dongyuan County CourtSecond, return and retrial of the case by the Dongyuan County Court
Ms. Deng's family inquired at the Dongyuan County Court about the case in late April. They were told that it had not been decided which judge would preside over the retrial.
Ms. Deng's attorney went to Dongyuan County Detention Center on May 5 to visit her. He learned that a judge from the Dongyuan County Court, whose family name is Zhang, and several other people had visited Ms. Deng on April 24, and demanded that she dismiss her attorney for violating the law.
