(Minghui.org) The authorities in Tahe County recently arrested a teacher for distributing literature about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline currently persecuted in China. After six days of torture in a detention center, Ms. Gao Shuying was on the verge of death.

The police had her family take her home to avoid responsibility in the event of her death. Her family couldn't get inside her house to retrieve her necessities, as the police refused to return her keys and other belongings that they confiscated.

The police arrested Ms. Gao on April 16 and interrogated her in Jianshe Police Station. Ms. Gao refused to cooperate, and the police brought in the domestic security. Cui Yuzhi, the captain, and two other domestic security agents body searched Ms. Gao and confiscated her purse. They handcuffed and dragged Ms. Gao to her home, and confiscated almost all of her personal property from her residence.

Later Ms. Gao was placed in an interrogation room and chained to a chair. She refused to answer questions, so Cui fabricated answers on her behalf for the deposition document. In the evening, they dragged Ms. Gao to the county hospital by her handcuffs, which bit into her flesh. They tied her to an iron bed, naked from the waist up, for hours in the hospital.

Ms. Gao was found to have hypertension and lack of oxygen to the heart muscle. Despite her acute physical condition, the domestic security agents put her in a detention center on the 17th. She could no longer walk at that point and was monitored around the clock in a cell. She wasn't given any food or water for a full day after her arrest.

On the night of the 18th Ms. Gao began to spasm and fell out of bed. Her life was in danger, and the authorities at the detention center asked the domestic security agents to release her. The request was denied.

Ms. Gao was unable to sleep and experienced nausea. By the 21st, she had begun to vomit gastric acid and couldn't catch her breath. She couldn't open her eyes or speak properly. The authorities left her struggling in bed and did nothing to help.

On the morning of 22nd, two guards dragged Ms. Gao out of the detention center. The domestic security agents forced her to fingerprint a document for “release on bail pending trial.” They then had her family take her home.

Ms. Gao was a middle school teacher in Tahe County. She used to suffer from headaches, hypertension, low blood sugar and gynecological diseases. She lost her job and spent all the savings on drugs and hospital visits. Her husband wanted to divorce her. After she became a Falun Gong practitioner, her physical problems disappeared and her family was happy again.

Ms. Gao has been repeatedly arrested, incarcerated, and tortured since the persecution began in 1999.
