(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Xueqing, a lawyer from Dalian City, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan in December 2016. She appealed the sentence, but the Dalian Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence on March 15, 2017.
A surveillance video camera recorded Ms. Ma painting over bulletin board materials that slandered Falun Gong on May 2, 2016. She was arrested the next day, and her home was ransacked.
Ms. Ma lost consciousness twice while in detention and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Although the police station and detention center decided to release her on medical parole, the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division refused to grant the request.
Ms. Ma, 48, has been practicing Falun Gong for 21 years. She benefited from the practice both physically and mentally.
Since the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Ma been arrested eight times for her belief. Her husband divorced her, and she was fired from her work.
