Additional Persecution News from China – February 20, 2017 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 4 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 14 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

Ms. Yao Xiuxin was arrested on February 18, 2017 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Guifen Imprisoned

Ms. Li Guifen was sentenced to a seven-year prison term in December 2016. She is imprisoned at Jinan Women's Prison.

Ms. Li was arrested by officers from Weicheng Domestic Security Division on June 28, 2016 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held at Weifang Detention Center.

3. [Beijing] Mr. Gao Weiping's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Gao Weiping was arrested on February 9, 2017. His whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Three elderly practitioners, Ms. Zhang Zhengbi (69), Ms. Xi Daoxun (73), and Ms. Yan Qiongyao (80), were arrested on February 17, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to Jaihe Police Station in Suining City. They were released at night.

5. [Huairen County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Zhang Shuyong Detained

Mr. Zhang Shuyong was arrested by officers, including Zhang Xiangdong from Huairen County Domestic Security Division, on February 16, 2017. He is held at Huairen County Detention Center.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Two Practitioners' Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Luo Xiaojuan and another practitioner were arrested on February 19, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Luchuan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region] Ms. Lu Ruizhen Passed Away

Ms. Lu Ruizhen, 62, passed away on February 18, 2017, while incarcerated in Guangxi Women's Prison.

Ms. Lu and Ms. Nong Shaoying (76) were arrested on May 13, 2016 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were tried by Luchuan Court on November 4, 2016. Ms. Lu was sentenced to a prison term of four years and four months, and Ms. Nong to four years and three months. They were taken to Guangxi Women's Prison.

8. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Liu Changfeng and Ms. Peng Xiuying Detained

Ms. Liu Changfeng and Ms. Peng Xiuying were arrested and taken to a police station on February 5, 2017 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are currently held at Nanjing City Detention Center.

9. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Guo Daoyou Persecuted to Death

Mr. Guo Daoyou died due to persecution on February 6, 2017.

10. [Suizhong County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gao Shuling and Ms. Zhao Huanzhen Detained

Ms. Gao Shuling and Ms. Zhao Huanzhen were arrested by local police officers on February 17, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Gao is currently held at Huludao City Detention Center, and Ms. Zhao is detained in Suizhong County.

11. [Jing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Bai Changge Detained

Ms. Bai Changge, in her 60s, was arrested by officers from Jing County Domestic Security Division and Guangchuan Town Police Station on February 13, 2017. She is currently detained at Hengshui Detention Center.
