(Minghui.org) As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I follow the principles of our cultivation practice. I work in the customer service department of a coal mining company and have been assigned to bookkeeping, checking deliveries, and account management.

Although in China bribes are common, as a practitioner, I cannot take any. And my honesty has been rewarded. The company has laid off many workers several times, but I have never been let go.

Client Tries Different Tricks

Coal sales were very high during the winter of 1998, and each of our clients purchased about 50 truckloads of coal. One of my duties was to weigh the coal for the trucks.

It is a common practice for clients to bribe workers who weigh the coal in exchange for a couple of tons of extra, free coal in each truck. One client was waiting for me on my way home and wanted to bribe me.

“I practice Falun Dafa,” I said. “Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of this practice, has taught me to be honest. I cannot accept your gift.” He replied that no one would ever find out.

“Oh yes,” I responded. “Heaven is watching. Divine beings are recording what we do.”

This client would not take no for an answer. He invited me and my coworkers to an upscale shopping mall, but I refused to go. He still did not give up. He stopped by my home when I was not there and tried to talk my husband into accepting five boxes of goods. My husband told him that we were Falun Dafa practitioners and did not accept bribes.

Most Trustworthy Person

When I was assigned to be a cashier at a different location, I was upset. After all, I had worked in the central location for over 20 years. I had worked hard, done high quality work, and had a great working relationship with my coworkers. When I asked myself why this had happened, my attachments to fame, self-interest, and saving face surfaced, and I was in tears.

When I studied the Fa that evening, I felt much better. I enlightened that Falun Dafa practitioners should do their best at all times, so I accepted the position.

One day a truck owner asked me if I would turn my head sometimes when they loaded the truck and not issue a receipt. I gathered from what he told me that my coworkers were okay with it. I refused the suggestion and told him that as a Falun Dafa practitioner I follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

“That would be dishonest,” I said. “I would be penalized if it was found out. Even if no one finds out, I cannot go against my conscience. I hope that you will remember ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ I believe that whatever you deserve, you will have. I am sorry, but I cannot do this for you.”

Little did I know but my coworkers were mad at me about refusing to look the other way. They ganged up on me and had me buy their lunches and didn't repay me. I did not get upset, although they did not pull their weight, sneered at me, and picked on me. They made things very difficult for me, but I just ignored them.

When they were in a good mood, I talked to them about how I had benefited from practicing Falun Dafa, the relationship between loss and gain, and my understanding of gaining wealth honestly. I even recited a paragraph from the “Loss and Gain”section in Zhuan Falun.

They changed after I had told them my reasons for not accepting bribes.

“You Falun Dafa practitioners are good people,” said one of them. “I trust you. Our boss said that you are the most trustworthy person for this position.”
