(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old man was deceived into going to the local police station, only to be seized as soon as he arrived there.

The family of Mr. Zhao Liuzhu suspects that the retiree of Xinzheng City Forestry Bureau was targeted for his efforts to seek the release of his son-in-law, Mr. Shi Runshan.

Both Mr. Zhao and Mr. Shi practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The younger man was arrested on June 1, 2017, for refusing to renounce his faith. The local Xinzheng City Procuratorate returned the case to Xinzheng City Police Department, citing insufficient evidence, but the latter refused to release Mr. Shi and instead resubmitted the case in late July.

Mr. Shi’s lawyer recently submitted a request to the local procuratorate, demanding an immediate dismissal of his case. Mr. Zhao tried to deliver a copy of the request to police, but was turned away.

The elderly man was asked to visit the police station on October 14 to answer some inquiries. He went there, but never returned home. His family received an arrest warrant against him that night.
