(Minghui.org) My husband and I were invited to dinner at a luxury hotel by our friend, who is an attorney. He also invited other people—a lawyer, a deputy director of the local legal affairs office, a female prosecutor, a section director of the Justice Bureau, and a deputy director of an organization.
When it was time to order drinks, I ordered a soft drink. My husband told everyone at the table that I did not drink alcohol because I practice Falun Dafa.
Before I had the opportunity to tell them about the practice, a senior manager from the local State Taxation Bureau came over to our table. My husband was surprised that we knew each other.
Investigation by the State Taxation Office
One day in 1999, six officers from the State Taxation Office and Inspection Team went to our hospital to investigate Dr. Wang and me. They wanted to find out where the venue fee for the 1998 Falun Dafa experience sharing conference came from.
Doctor Wang was the volunteer director of our local Falun Dafa Assistance Center.
I told the inspection team that I initially wanted to donate 1,500 yuan to help pay the fee, but Doctor Wang said that someone had already paid for it.
I also told them that I had paid 160 yuan on two different occasions for the parking fee at a venue we had rented to teach people the Falun Dafa exercises. I said, “Practitioners always teach the exercises free of charge. We are not allowed to charge a fee for any of our activities.”
The senior manager told me that Doctor Wang had paid the venue fee. He sincerely apologized for having to investigate us back then.
I replied, “The investigation revealed the fact that Falun Dafa practitioners pay for everything out of their own pockets. It was good that you learned the truth.”
Openly Clarifying the Truth
Everyone at dinner knew me since I had treated either them or their family members. I shared with them how I follow the Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance at work and in treating patients. I stopped accepting gifts and money from patients, as well as kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies.
I told them, “Please remember ‘Falun Dafa is good’ and ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ Don’t follow the Communist Party in persecuting practitioners, and you will be blessed for being kind. Nowadays, many lawyers have stepped up to defend practitioners.”
I chatted with the prosecutor on the way to the restroom. She acknowledged that Falun Dafa is good but did not agree to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party.
I later clarified the truth further to the tax manager and the deputy director, and they both agreed to withdraw from the Party. They also took informational materials about Dafa.
