(Minghui.org) When Mr. Cheng Junqiang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Laiyang City, was taken from his home by plainclothes officers on November 4, 2016, his family had no idea where he was being taken. They expected to receive some type of notice or explanation from the authorities, but never did.
Over a month later, Mr. Chen's family found out from the Laiyang Procuratorate that his arrest had been approved and his case had been submitted to the court. Again, no notice was sent to the family.
His family only found out later that he had be sentenced and sent to Jinan Prison in May 2017. When they were finally able to visit him in October 2017, Mr. Chen told them that he had been sentenced to a year and a half in prison and fined 10,000 yuan.
Mr. Chen's family is dismayed by the fact that the authorities never notified them of his trial or sentencing.
