(Minghui.org) Ms. Fang Xiuying, a 78-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Nanjing City, was arrested on October 18 for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) in public. Details of the arrest are unknown.

Her family and friends have stated their intention to take legal action against the responsible parties if Ms. Fang is not released soon.

Previous Arrest

Almost a year ago on October 20, 2016, police ransacked Ms. Fang's home. After they confiscated two laptops, printers, Falun Gong books and materials, and other personal items, the officers forcibly took Ms. Fang to Maqun Police Station.

For over 20 hours, Ms. Fang was confined to an interrogation chair such that she could not move. Police questioned her in connection with another case and threatened to send her to a detention center if she did not answer their questions. She later told her family that she felt incoherent and thirsty the whole time.

After Ms. Fang's children finally brought her home, before she had time to recover, officials from the local neighborhood committee started to visit and harass her.

Background

Ms. Fang had many ailments in the past. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she regained her health. She also became kinder and more patient to others. Her children witnessed the changes in her and are very supportive of her practicing Falun Gong.
