Additional Persecution News from China – August 14, 2016 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 12 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Shixin Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Wang Shixin was tried by the Qinghe District Court on the afternoon of January 26, 2016. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. He appealed the sentencing to the Huai'an City Intermediate Court on March 8. The court did not hold any hearing and upheld the original judgment on June 17.

Mr. Wang was arrested downstairs at his apartment building by Xu Feng, a deputy head of the Domestic Security Division of the Qinghe District Police Department, and other officers on August 20, 2015.

2. [Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zheng Hongxia Prosecuted

Ms. Zheng Hongxia was arrested on her way to work by officers from the Qinghe District Domestic Security Division on March 10, 2016. Her arrest was approved by the Qinghe District Procuratorate on April 14. Her case was submitted to the Qinghe District Court in late June.

3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Chen Maohua Detained

Seven police officers broke into Mr. Chen Maohua's home in Zengcheng District and arrested her at noon on August 10, 2016. She was taken to the police station. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a computer and other personal belongings. Ms. Chen was taken to a detention center that evening for 15 days of detention.

4. [Genhe City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zhang Chunhua, Mr. Li Taiming, and Mr. Wang Xiaohua were arrested by officers from the Genhe City Domestic Security Division and the Mangui Police Station on August 7, 2016. One of the three practitioners was taken to the Hulunbuir City Detention Center.

5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Xiaofeng Detained

Ms. Yang Xiaofeng was arrested by officers from the Guanshan Police Station when she talked to people about Falun Gong on August 6, 2016. She was taken to the Yujiashan Police Station. She was then taken to the Erzhigou Detention Center for 10 days of detention.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Su Wei Detained

Ms. Su Wei was arrested by eight plainclothes officers on July 21, 2016. She is being held in the Fengtai Detention Center.

7. [Yuxi City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Qu Shuxian and Sister Ms. Qu Shuqiong Detained

Ms. Qu Shuqiong, from the No. 2 team of Liuzongqi Village, Hongta District, was handcuffed and arrested by plainclothes officers while she was cleaning at the Yuxi Chinese Medicine Hospital on the morning of August 3, 2016.

Her elder sister Ms. Qu Shuxian was also arrested that day. Both sisters are being held in the Yuxi Detention Center.

8. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qi Yunzhen and Sister Ms. Qi Yunhua Arrested

Three officers led by Wei Zhenxing, a deputy section head of the Fushun City Domestic Security Division, broke into Ms. Qi Yunzhen's home in Qingyuan County on the morning of August 10, 2016. They ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Gong books, over 300 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them, and over 2,800 yuan in cash from her husband. Ms. Qi was taken to the Fushun City Detention Center.

Her younger sister Ms. Qi Yunhua was visiting at the time. The officers questioned her and searched her pockets. She was arrested and taken to the Tianqiao Police Station for interrogation. That night she suffered a heart attack and was sent to the Qingyuan County Hospital.

9. [Luannan County, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Officers from the Angezhuang Town Domestic Security Division harassed several practitioners in Liuhengtuo Village who filed lawsuits against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. The police tried to force them to write three statements, otherwise they would be taken to the Tangshan Brainwashing Center. The harassed practitioners are: Mr. Li Kezhao, Mr. Li Quandong, Ms. Guo Hongxia, and Mr. Yao Huirong.

10. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Guiping Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guiping was arrested on the afternoon of August 10, 2016.

11. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Li Guangwei Disappeared for 11 Years

Mr. Li Guangwei was born in 1935. He was a painter and a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000. He was harassed and followed constantly between 2000 and 2005. He was called many times to the police station or the state security bureau and reprimanded.

He left home on the morning of July 25, 2005. Eleven years have passed, and no one has heard from him since.

12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yang Zhonghua Arrested

Mr. Yang Zhonghua was arrested when he distributed Falun Gong informational materials on August 12, 2016.

13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hu Jilian Detained

Ms. Hu Jilian, an employee of the Shang'an Power Plant in Qiaoxi District, was arrested by officers from the Zhentou Police Station when she talked to people about Falun Gong on the evening of July 6, 2016. She was detained for 10 days in the Shijiazhuang Detention Center. During her detention, the officers from the police station ransacked her home and confiscated nearly 100 copies of Falun Gong books, several MP3 players, and other personal belongings.

14. [Xinmin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Su Dafeng Arrested

Mr. Su Dafeng was arrested at home on August 11, 2016.

15. [Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Gu Xiufang Detained

Liu Wei and other officers from the Nanwai Police Station in Zhanggong District pried open the door of Ms. Gu Xiufang's home and arrested her on the morning of July 14, 2016. Ms. Gu was taken to the police Station for interrogation. The officers ransacked her home and found nothing. She was taken to the Ganzhou City Detention Center for 15 days of detention. Officer Liu Wei injected Ms. Gu with unknown drugs.

On July 28, Zhu Fangming and other officers from the Domestic Security Division showed up again at Ms. Gu's home. They took Ms. Gu's husband to the Domestic Security Division to sign papers.

16. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Liying Arrested

Ms. Zhang Liying from the Xiahuayuan District was arrested and taken to the Chengzhen Police Station on the morning of August 13, 2016. Ms. Zhang's family went to the police station to request her release. They were not allowed to go into the police station.

17. [Xinzheng City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Heiniu Detained

Mr. Zhang Heiniu, 64, was arrested by officers from the Longhu Town Police Station on August 11, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. He was taken to the Xinzheng City Detention Center.

18. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Tianliu Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Yang Tianliu was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center around August 10, 2016.

19. [Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zuo Chuanxin Detained

Ms. Zuo Chuanxin was arrested at home by officers from the Erdaowan Town Police Station at noon on August 12, 2016. They took her to the police station for questioning about her lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. She was taken to the Fuyu County Detention Center that afternoon for seven days of detention.

20. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lijuan was arrested at home on August 11, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin.

Ms. Wang Sushan was harassed on August 9, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin.

22. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Lan Xiuyun, Ms. Gao Li, and Mr. Liu Guohui were arrested by Zhang Liping and other officers from the Domestic Security Division when they talked to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 5, 2016. They are held in the Xidayingzi Women's Detention Center in Chaoyang City.

23. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Xinying Abused in Detention

Ms. Jiang Xinying was arrested by officers from the Qianfoshan Police Station when she distributed Falun Gong informational materials in early July 2016. She is being held in the Jinan Detention Center. Ms. Jiang is now vomiting blood as a result of abuse, and she cannot lay down.
