(Minghui.org) A group of over a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested two years ago, in late February 2014. They were first taken to Jiyuan Detention Center, but some have since been taken elsewhere. This is the latest information on the ongoing investigation.
Four of these practitioners were transported to Xinxiang Prison in Henan Province on March 18, 2016, including Ms. Wang Dongling, Ms. Chang Lihua, and Ms. Yin Libo from Jiyuan City, Henan Province, as well as Mr. Li Bingling from Gaotang County, Shandong Province.
Four were tried in Jiyuan City Court on June 26 and September 9, 2015, including Ms. Wang, Ms. Chang, Ms. Yin, Mr. Li—plus five others—Ms. Xiao Mao, Ms. Wang Xiaohuan, Mr. Zhou Ziyang, Mr. Wu Zhenyu, and Ms. Li Yunhua. Four attorneys entered not guilty pleas.
The court did not pronounce a sentence at that time, but the Jiyuan City Court already sentenced five of these practitioners: Ms. Wang to five years in prison, Ms. Chang to three-and-a-half years, Ms. Yin to three years, Mr. Li to four years, and Mr. Zhou to two years. Four practitioners immediately appealed their prison terms to the intermediate court, but that court affirmed the original sentences without the practitioners’ attorneys being present.
