Additional Persecution News from China – April 1, 2016 (32 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 26 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 16 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 37 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Shang Libo and Ms. Pan Peiyun Detained

Ms. Shang Libo and Ms. Pan Peiyun from Zhangqiu City were arrested on March 28, 2016 for telling people about Falun Gong. Both practitioners are held in the Jinan City Detention Center.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jiang Wenhua Detained; His Dental Clinic Ransacked

Mr. Jiang Wenhua's dental clinic was ransacked by officers from the Renminlu Police Station on March 29, 2016. The officers confiscated a computer, a printer, among other personal items. Dr. Jiang was arrested at work. The entire clinic staff was taken to the police station for questioning and pressured to sign paperwork. They were held in custody for 10 hours with no phone calls allowed. Around 2 or 3 a.m. the staff was released. Dr. Jiang remains in custody.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Yang Xiuwei Detained

Zhang Weiguang, from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division, and Xu, from the Changjiulu Police Station, broke into practitioner Yang Xiuwei's home shortly after 6 a.m. on March 9, 2016. The two officers handcuffed and arrested Mr. Yang without cause. The officers confiscated a computer and Falun Gong books. Mr. Yang was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center for 10 days of detention, and was released on March 19, 2016.

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Ruilan Beaten by Police

Ms. Li Ruilan was beaten by officers from the Wutu Police Station for suing Jiang Zemin.

5. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Detained

Officers from the Tianjin City 610 Office, the Dongli District Domestic Security Division, and the Junliangcheng Police Station arrested Mr. Zhang Ziwen, his wife Ms. Liu Yuhong, and their son Mr. Zhang Ximing on March 15, 2016. The officers ransacked their home and confiscated several cell phones. The three practitioners remain in custody in the Fengnian Detention Center in the Dongli District.

6. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Mei Lanting Detained

Ms. Mei Lanting was arrested on March 30, 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin. She was detained for seven days.

7. [Guangzong County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Shunfa and Ms. Yan Xiuhong Arrested

More than twenty officers from the Chengguan Police Station led by Zhang Mengkan, head of the Guangzong County Domestic Security Division, broke into elderly Mr. Wang Shunfa's home on the evening of March 29, 2016. The officers beat Mr. Wang, his wife, and Ms. Yan Xiuhong, who was visiting. They arrested Mr. Wang and Ms. Yan.

8. [Dong'e County, Shandong Province] Practitioner Zhao Shanning Detained

Officers from the Liaocheng City Police Department and the Dong'e County Police Department arrested practitioner Zhao Shanning while he was working odd jobs in Jinan City. Zhao was taken to Liaocheng City for detention.

9. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Around March 28 and March 29, 2016, officers from the Huangtai Police Station in the Tianqiao District arrested Ms. Li Changhui, Ms. Kang Tingyun, and Ms. Ding Shuzhen. The three practitioners were held for 10 days.

10. [Pucheng County, Fujian Province] Ms. Lin Aizhu Held for Over a Month

Ms. Lin Aizhu, in her 60s, and Ms. Wei Ziqing, in her 70s, were arrested and taken to the Jiangbin Police Station when they were talking to people about Falun Gong by patrol police officers on February 23, 2016. Both elderly practitioners were pressured throughout the night to give up practicing. Ms. Lin was taken to the Wuyishan Detention Center, where she remains in custody. Ms. Wei was released the following day.

11. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Han Changgen, Ms. Liu Huiping, and a practitioner with the last name Chang were arrested when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on March 31, 2016. Mr. Han's cell phone was confiscated. Officers from the Lubei Police Department ransacked Mr. Han's home that afternoon.

12. [Qiyang County, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Shuangfeng Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuangfeng and several other practitioners went to Changning City to tell people about Falun Gong and to distribute Falun Gong informational materials on June 22, 2015. They were arrested by Changning City police. Ms. Wang was taken to the Hengyang City Women's Prison. She was found to have severe tuberculosis, hepatitis and other infectious diseases during a physical examination. She was released. At the end of 2015, the Hengyang City Court notified Ms. Wang to come to the court in an attempt to put her on trial.

On the morning of March 26, 2016, Ms. Wang went to Sankoutang Town to tell people about Falun Gong and to post Falun Gong informational materials. She was arrested by officers from the Sankoutang Town Police Station. She was taken to the county detention center. On the morning of March 28, she was taken to the Hengyang City Women's Detention Center by the Changning City police. She faces trial.

13. [Bengbu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liang Huaiyuan Arrested

Ms. Liang Huaiyuan, a senior engineer, had been displaced. She was reported to the police when telling people about Falun Gong in Dingyuan County. She was arrested in February 2016.

The Bengbu police were looking for her everywhere in order to arrest her for filling lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and telling people about Falun Gong.

14. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Rong Shujin, Ms. Tan Guohua, and Ms. Fan Guifen were reported to the police in Sidaoying Township on March 30, 2016. They were taken into custody by officers from the Domestic Security Division. The officers confiscated Ms. Fan's two printers and a computer.

15. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Yuling Held Over Four Months

Ms. Li Yuling, in her 60s, a retired worker from the Dahe Cotton Mill in Tai'an City, was arrested by officers from the Taishan District Domestic Security Division and the Shanggao Police Station on the afternoon of November 25, 2015 for suing Jiang Zemin. Her home was ransacked. She has been held in the Tai'an City Detention Center for over four months.

After Ms. Li was arrested, the domestic security officers installed two cameras outside her door to monitor people passing by her home. The officers harassed, on several occasions, her family and practitioners Ms. Bo Lingcui and Ms. Bo's mother-in-law in the neighborhood.

16. [Chongqing] Mr. Zhu Defu Taken to Brainwashing Center

Officers from the Tongguanyi Police Station in the Jiulongpo District broke into Mr. Zhu Defu's home and ransacked it on the afternoon of March 28, 2016. Mr. Zhu, about 77, is held in a brainwashing center.

Mr. Zhu had been twice sentenced to prison and twice held in a brainwashing center.

17. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Fengxia and Mr. Huang Liming Detained

Officers from the Nanyang Police Station broke into Ms. Zhang Fengxia's home on the afternoon of March 23, 2016. Ms. Zhang, her husband Mr. Huang Liming, another practitioner, and one or two neighbors, who were at her home, were arrested and taken to the police station. Ms. Zhang and her husband Mr. Huang were taken directly to a detention center.

18. [Shanghai] Mr. Yan Xihong Tried

Mr. Yan Xihong was sentenced to prison. He was held in the Tilanqiao Prison.

19. [Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Lu Huiling and Daughter Arrested

Ms. Lu Huiling, about 63, and her daughter were arrested recently.

20. [Beijing] Ms. Gao Fenglan Detained

Ms. Gao Fenglan was reported when she was talking to people about Falun Gong in the Chaoyang District at noon on March 18, 2016. She was arrested by officers from the Chaoyang Police Department. She was held in the Chaoyang Detention Center. No family visits were allowed. Officers from the Chaoyang Police Department ransacked the home of Ms. Gao's daughter and confiscated two copies of handwritten Falun Gong books.

21. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Shaoquan and Ms. Li Rui'e Detained

The Jincheng Town Police Station dispatched 15 or 16 officers to harass practitioners one by one at their homes in Matang Village. Mr. Zhang Shaoquan and Ms. Li Rui'e were taken to the police station that day and then to the Laizhou Detention Center that evening.

22. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Haoyuan and Wife Ms. Li Ying Detained

Mr. Li Haoyuan and his wife Ms. Li Ying from the Dalian Development Zone were arrested on December 2, 2015 for suing Jiang Zemin. The couple are held in the Dalian Development Zone Detention Center and the Yaojia Detention Center.

23. [Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuling and Ms. Dong Haiyuan Detained

Ms. Zhang Liuling from Dingxing County was sentenced to four years in prison on April 16, 2015. She was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.

Ms. Dong Haiyuan was held in the Qingyuan County Detention Center.

24. [Zoucheng City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Man Li, Ms. Shen Honglian, and Ms. Jiang Limei, employees at the Yanjing Brewery, were arrested by officers from the Qianquan Police Station on March 29, 2016.

Ms. Man's husband was persecuted to death in early 2000 by the Jining City Labor Camp.

25. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cui Xiying Detained

Ms. Cui Xiying was arrested and taken to the Xinglong Police Station in the Yanzhou District when she talked to people about Falun Gong on March 19, 2016. She was interrogated. Seven or eight officers held her head and pulled on her hair to take her photograph. Afterward, seven officers went to her home and ransacked it. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, 66 copies of Falun Gong books, 30 brochures, 21 cards with Falun Gong content, three pendants, and one set of wall calendar with Falun Gong content.

She was taken to the Yanzhou Detention Center for 10 days of detention.

26. [Nong'an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yanhua and Ms. Zu Hongxia Arrested

Officers from the Kaoshan Town Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Yanhua, who was working in the field, on March 27, 2016. She was detained for seven days in the Nong'an County Detention Center.

Officers from the Qingshan Township Police Station arrested Ms. Zu Hongxia twice on March 16, 2016. She was released the same day. The officers extorted over 5,000 yuan from her family.

27. [Shanghai] Ms. Li Yaping Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Yaping was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

28. [Tianjin] Mr. Gong Shangcai Arrested

Mr. Gong Shangcai from the Tanggu District in the Binhai New Area was arrested by officers from the Tanggu New Village Police Station when he distributed Falun Gong informational materials on February 25, 2016. He was taken to the police station, and later released that day. The next day, the officers lured Mr. Gong's family to open the door and ransacked the place when Mr. Gong was not at home. They confiscated printed materials, Falun Gong books, and cell phone SIM cards.

29. [Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Cai Lanying and Ms. Chen Fulan Detained

Ms. Cai Lanying and Ms. Chen Fulan were arrested by officers from the Geshan Police Station when distributing Falun Gong informational materials on the afternoon of March 28, 2016. She is held in the Zhangshu City Detention Center.

30. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Yang Xiuling Detained

Ms. Yang Xiuling, from Shenqiu County, Zhoukou City, Henan Province, went to visit her home town in Anhui Province. She was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong by officers from the Zhuanji Town Police Station in Jieshou City within Fuyang City, on March 14, 2016. She was taken to the Fuyang City Detention Center for 15 days of detention. Fifteen days later, she still remained in custody.

31. [Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Feng Yuxia Detained

Ms. Feng Yuxia was arrested on December 4, 2015. She has been held in the Tieling Detention Center.

32. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Sun Pinghua from Nanshanghe Village, Muyudian Town was arrested at noon on March 29, 2016. Her home was ransacked.

Mr. Jia Yuanwen from Gangkou Village, Wandi Town was arrested at home by the police on March 30, 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin.

Officers from the Laiyang Domestic Security Division went to Lianghaobo Village, Longwangzhuang Town to harass Ms. Gao Xiulian on the morning of March 29, 2016.

Mr. Qu Shumin, who lives in the downtown area of Laiyang City, was arrested when he talked to people about Falun Gong on the morning of September 6, 2015. He was taken to the Laiyang Detention Center the following morning. Later he was transferred to the Yantai Detention Center. He has been held there for over six months.
